Today we are putting your wardrobe to work by creating 3 different looks at out 1 core outfit!
with school, work, internships and presentations I have been a busy busy bee lately! On monday (when I wore this look) I started my day working at kate spade, then rushed to school for a presentation and ended with my night classes. I didn’t have time to change between these events, so I had to transform the outfit I wearing! Today, I will teach you how to do the same so you can take your look from work to weekend and back again.
Before we get started, take a look at the key pieces I used in all three looks…
Top: Cropped Top, Forever. Skirt: Handmade (similar). Ring: All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Kate Spade (in stores). Glasses: Tom Ford*. Belt: All Wrapped Up Bow Belt in Black, kate spade (no longer available) (similar). Earrings: Gumdrop studs in aqua, kate spade.
now that we know what we’re working with, lets see the three “Courtney’s” I became throughout the day, starting with look one.
Look 1: Cute Courtney
First up was the flirty girlie look I started my day in: my Kate Spade work attire.
since I work at Kate Spade, are work attire is fun and bubbly with a little bit of whimsy. Spades also encourage statement jewelry and colorful touches. This wouldn’t be appropriate for a normal corporate job, but you could wear this for a shopping day, lunch with the girls or a day date!
(please disregard the gauze and bandages! I am not yet skilled at becoming culinary courtney and had a run in with my kitchen that left me burned! eek)
After work, I ran straight to my MBA program, where I had to do a presentation. For any school presentations I always dress “business casual” because when you look your best, you present your best!
everyone should invest in what I call a casual/corporate jacket that can easily go work or weekend. Putting it on easily dressed up this look! Mine reminds me of Jackie O! I also turned my high back cropped top around for a higher neck line.
Bracelets: Vintage Sparkle Bracelet, Vintage Gold Chain bracelet (similar, on sale), Vintage Pearl Bracelets (similar). Necklace: All Eyes On You, kenneth jay lane (I loved it so much I bought it in black too). Shoes: White Mary Janes, Jessica Simpson. Jacket: “Jackie O”Jacket, Vintage.
Look 3: Casual Courtney
After my 2pm presentation, I spent the rest of the day in classes, so I wanted to be a little more casual and comfortable, especially for my walk home!
I think the key to being casual and comfortable but still cute is to dress up your casual pieces like a denim jacket with unexpected accessories, like a bold broach and statement necklaces! Also I like to pair my super cute tennies with skirts and bold prints instead of basic denim.
Bangles: kate spade idiom bangles, diy decoupage bangles. Bracelets: Vintage Sparkle Bracelet, Vintage Gold Chain bracelet (similar, on sale) Vintage Pearl Bracelets (similar). Necklace: Double Exposure Necklace, Kate Spade (now on sale). Broach: Music Note, Vintage. Denim Jacket: Jean Jacket, H&M. Necklace: Gold Chains, Max & Chloe. Shoes: Tretorn Tennies, Kate Spade (NLA in black, similar in peach and blue.
These next two looks will help you create a weather proof look for either rain or shine!
this posts will show how to convert one item (the kate spade wynne dress) for any element mother nature chooses to throw at you! Tomorrow we will walk on sunshine, but today we’re singing in the rain with our wet weather look!
So lets get started by taking a look at how I used these pieces to weather the storm…
This dress is a great spring look, but I toned it down and darkened it up with bits of black
I paired black tights with ridding boots to keep my from slipping in a puddle
The black belt and necklace kept the color scheme going, while a black headband helped keep my hair in control despite the weather.
A pink contrast cardie plays off the colors in the dress while dressing down the overall look
I always layer on the bracelets, even with long sleeves by wearing them over the fabric.
I finished the look by pulling on a big black trench to stay dry!
I even added a vintage music note broach to my jacket for a bit of bling!
Cardigan: Contrast pink cardie, H&M (spring 2012). Bag: Baby Bag, Liz Lang (old). Black Bow Headband. Dress: Floral Wynne Dress, Kate Spade (No Longer Available). Welcome back to rain or shine, weather worthy looks!
now let’s take that same look into a brighter place!
With a few basic pieces and fun touches, we’ll take this look from rain to shine. Take a peak at how it turned out…
once again I am putting the floral wynne dress to work for this sun worthy outfit
I paired it with cute and simple touches, starting with nude flats and one of my favorite vintage green clutches!
as you may have noticed, I am obsessed with new jean jacket!
I dressed up my jacket with chunky pearls and a big curly girlie pony!
I also piled on the bracelets (what else is new), I think it helped keep it more casual and fun!
A leopard belt also dressed down my look, I am really into pattern mixing and love that it adds another element of fun and a bit of edge to my otherwise flirty girlie look.

happy monday! for today’s marketing monday, lets look one of my favorite spring campaigns
Prada’s super fun spring 2012 line is inspired by classic cars! take a peak at some of the campaign images
This line has a great vintage vibe, with novelty flair! I love the classic shapes done in fun patterns and colors!
Some of the pieces are a little more novelty, fun and red hot!
Even the eyewear got a vintage-esque make over.
dakota? is that you? you look amazing in those fabulously flaming sling backs. care to share?
fergie ferg? you too? look at you setting the red carpet a blaze in Prada spring 2012.
beep beep! move over boring shoes, this spring is all about show stopping style.
MWAH! I’m personally obsessed with these kissable stilettos… I actually have dreams about wearing them all the time (is it weird that I often don’t remember what happens in my dreams, but I always remember what I’m wearing?)
I’m clearly addicted… but what do you think about this spring campaign? does it get your motor running? let me know ! …
nothing says “hello, i’m here, notice me” like a little bit of yellow.
today I was bold and bright in statement jewelry, pops of color, bold prints and a little bit of yellow. here’s how I wore it…
the day started out chilly, so I started out in a checked cape
but as it warmed up, I revealed pattern and color underneath.
Since I am currently layer obsessed, I paired two patterns together before tucking it all into this yellow mini.
The layering doesn’t stop with clothing, I pile on the bangles and bracelets too, mixing colors and textures.
My store finally got the aqua gum drops back in, they make the perfect pop of color to compliment my matching ring
I noticed that I am wearing some of my favroites: polka dot flats, gathered bow belt, new bond street florence and kjl necklaces.
my last little bit of layering was doubling up on the necklaces, I loved my turquoise kenneth jay lane one so much I had to get the black one too, and today I couldn’t choose.. so I wore both!
Necklaces: All Eyes On You worn doubled up in Turquoise and Black, Kenneth Jay Lane. Skirt: Yellow Mini, Donna Karen via consignment + alterations (similar here, here or here). Bag: New Bond Street Florence in Shocking Pink (On Sale!). Top: Polka Dot Cowl Neck Top, Vintage (similar). Shoes: pointed toe polka dot flats, vintage (similar). Shirt: Black long sleeve (worn under), H&M. Basic Black Tights. Jewelry: kate spade all wrapped up bow ring, kate spade aqua gum drop studs, kate spade idiom bangles, turquoise ring, vintage link bracelet (similar), pearls.
Surprise surprise, another layering look, I started with these pieces…
and transformed them into…
are you sick of my blabbing on about the magic of layering yet?
It really is the easiest way to play up your basics and add dimension to any look.
everyone has a basic skirt and a button up shirt, so switch it up by layering a patterned long sleeve (mine was $5 at H&M) underneath your dress shirt.
if you are into obnoxious accessories like me, double up on your necklaces and pile on the bracelet bling!
did you notice the polka dot tights? if you are a tights wearer like me these sheer polka dot ones are a great way to still get tight-like coverage for spring and summer! You can wear them all year long, so I highly suggest investing in a pair.
Shirt: Turquoise button up, Foxcroft. Tights: Polka Dots, Modcloth (similar). Shoes: Oxford Heels, Miz Mooz (similar here or here) Piano Clutch: Recital Farrah, Kate Spade (similar here or here). Skirt: Tulip skirt, Zara (Spring 2011). Shirt: Striped Long Sleeve (worn under), H&M. Necklace: Layered Gold Necklace, Vintage. Necklace: Kate Spade. Jewels: Idiom Bangles, All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Kate Spade.
Welcome back to another Marketing Monday, Meet today’s target Company!
That’s right, today, we’re tackling another Marketing Master: Target! As we look at their newest campaigns for 2012, take a peak…
As a Marketing Geek I have always been obsessed with the ad’s and campaigns of target, but this ad is one of my all time favorites because it features some of my favorite things: hot air balloons, color, frenchness (I am making up words here…) and target!
Target’s ads are to get you in the door, but what do you find once you make the trip (or visit target.com)? well I found a few great spring/summer target finds, check them out!
so of course I had to dress for the occasion and I used these pieces to do so!
when combined, these pieces made the perfect tea attire, take a peak…
When I think tea, I don’t just think britts and crumpits, I also venture into “mad” territory, with a little bit of alice in wonderland flair.
So my outfit had to be classy with a little bit of whimsy, starting with bold gum drop studs in flo coral and bright bangles.
I also turned to my go-to statement clutch: the recital farrah
A bow behind my bun doubled up on the pop of peach
This summery dress wouldn’t of paired well with black, so I added a skinny black belt to tie it all together.
Polka dot tights are one of my wardrobe workhorses, they are simple yet bold and look great with everything.
Shoes: Pumps, John Fluevog. Piano Clutch: Recital Farrah, Kate Spade (try outlet!) Tights: Polka Dot, ModCloth. Dress: Fleur, Kate Spade (no longer available). Earrings: Gumdrop Studs In Flo Coral, Kate Spade. Idiom Bangles, Kate Spade. Basic Black Cropped Cardigan, H&M. White “Jackie-esque” Jacket, Vintage. Belt: Skinny Black Patent. All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Kate Spade.
