poppy

today’s post is all about the power of pattern mixing && a pop of color!
for this look i’m using a pop of poppy paired with b&w patterns to make a statement.

if you are hesitant about mixing patterns, try pairing two black && white prints together! it won’t come off as shocking as other pattern pairs && is uses something you probably already have lying around in your closet! try pairing your polka dots with stripes or even houndstooth like i did today! also use a solid piece, like i did with my black skirt, to keep from going over board!
some disagree, but i think leopard as a natural! i put my leopard skinny belt to work once again && used it to bring an unexpected twist to the outfit. i finalized with another spot of polka dots south of my ankles && brought some color to the look by doubling up on my poppy pins!
one tip for layering is to “double layer” or layer on either side of a specific piece. in my case, i choose a solid black skirt as my center piece && layered my patterned polka dot skirt under it && my cardigan over it. if you choose to double layer (under && over) choose a layering center piece that is opposite of your other garnets. for example, go for a solid to pair with two patterned pieces (like me) or use a pattered center piece to pair with two solid ones for maximum contrast without overdoing it!
