yesterday, i talked about my time at the vintage book fair
in soho where i purchased a bunch of books for a dollar each to add to my coffee table and living room collection >> pop by the full post here
. so today, i’m sharing some of my finds!
other than the random soho bookfair, i find my literary decor at resale stores, thrift shops and vintage boutiques. i also sometimes get lucky in the sale sections at a neighborhood bookstore.
striking out at the stores? shop full sets of thrifted finds online via etsy at huckster haven
! sets range in price but are all extremely affordable! here’s some of my favorite sets!
keep in mind that your books look best if you mix up your vintage books & match them with a few new reads! here are some splurge-worthy books from anthropologie & urban to get you started!
sometimes you can get luck enough to find an amazing book at a vintage store! i scored this glam one at a thrift store in the west village for $8, although i’m sure it’s worth much more then that! coincidentally, it’s one of the books kate spade uses in their corporate show room!
book worm? check out these goodies for the avid reader!
i hope you enjoyed this literary post, we’ll get back to fashion tomorrow! but before you go, checkout my great gatsby book clutch, now on sale at katespade.com
sunday morning’s should be spent hunting for vintage books at a street fair in soho, and sunday afternoon’s are for enjoying lobster grilled cheese on a stoop with your frenchie.
vintage books have become my newest obsession, so when I heard one of my favorite city thrift shops was hosting a street book fair in soho, I couldn’t resist! I mean who can say no to coffee table books for $1!
i was lucky enough to share my day with my favorite blonde bombshell, miss channing pickett (see how we celebrated her birthday here
) and a little french man waffles. oh, and did i mention we found a lobster food truck, and said yes to lobster grilled cheese?
follow me on instagram
and twitter for more instant updates of my random city adventures!
nothing says summer in new york like a good old fashioned picnic!
despite my perfect picnic attire, i have yet to picnic in the city! but i did spend the day with a hansom french man!
i feel in love with gingham last year when miu miu featured this playful print for their spring collection, and i still kick myself for not splurging on a pair!
although my picnic ready dress serves as this look’s main attraction, some fabulous && affordable statement jewelry from tomorrow’s unknown made for the perfect finishing touches…
i’m loving this colored link bracelet
! it’s a fresh, new take on the link trend and currently on sale for $18 (originally $28) at tomorrows unknown
! i’ll soon be investing in every color to pair with my pavé link!
this amazing necklace
is also from tomorrow’s unknown
! i’m crazy about the antique feel, beading detail and the bright colors… oh and not to mention the affordable price point!
this dress will now always have a special place in my heart because i wore it when i became reunited with my best friend. she was serving on a mission, so i hadn’t see or talked to her for 18 months (only letters). i went to pick her up from the airport, wearing this dress and her first words to me (through tears) were “you look like a picnic basket”, so now I can’t look at it without cracking a smile! i’m so happy to have her back!

today i suit up in spots and a splash of neon for a some summer sizzle.
i’m a sucker for a summer suit, so when i found this printed peplum and the matching shorts, i had to suit up!
see the brightness south of my ankles? these coach pumps are my new go to shoe.
I can’t usually do a pointed toe (my feet are too fat, so they just aren’t comfortable!) but these nala pumps
work for me and i can wear them all day! I fell in love with the color, but will stay for the style, so much so that i am thinking of investing in a few other colors in the near future! oh, and did i mention they’re on sale

last weekend i was honored to attend modcloth’s
first ever pop up shop, with one of my favorite people miss channing pickett
… and today i’m sharing some of the highlights!
if you aren’t familiar with modcloth
, you should be!
is bubbly brand with a retro-vibe where you can find darling dresses and charming clothing in a variety of sizes and styles! although modcloth
is online only, they do offer free returns and free shipping making it easy to shop and send things back at your leisure!
although the pop-up shop had all sizes, the event was specifically designed for the launch of modcloth’s plus sizes! i love that modcloth
is a brand that designs for all shapes and sizes and that they did a popup shop to allow their pretty plus customers to be able to try on the product prior to purchasing!
since we both live in the city and practically share clothes anyway, we decided to split the dress and split the price! here’s two ways to wear it…
over all, the event was fabulous! although i expected nothing less from modcloth. fingers crossed that they do another pop-up soon!
follow – let’s stay in touch
… why not turn them into an outfit!
one chilly morning at the end of February,
i woke to the smell of lemons and thought “i want a lemon
dress”! weird, i know, but i was determined. anyways, i searched online, local stores and even at vintage boutiques without success. by april i was about to give up when i stumbled upon lemon printed shorts
at c.wonder.com (worn here
). the next day, waffie && i wondered down to soho in search for the shorts, where i found this zesty little dress out of the same print!
i swiped my card with a smile and never looked back.
for the extremely affordable price of only $22, you too can get the look
in yellow or any other color!
a few more ways to get your lemon fix…
excuse me, while i show off the newest addition to my closet…
this dress isn’t my usual shape (i’m mostly a fit and flair kind of girl) but i had to make an exception for this beauty. i’m crazy about the color blocking and the sparkle collar is the final finishing touch.
i also love that this dress doesn’t need much, the color blocking eliminates the necessity for a belt and the sparkle collar serves as a build in necklace. you can just step on up and walk out the door.
i paired mine with colorful pumps and spots of sparkle, but here’s another way to wear it!
since we’re smack in the middle of the nba finals, i decided to team up with the talented alexis of stylish gameday to cook up some fashionable ways to show your san antonio spirit, go spurs!
Look edgy and cool while showing your spirit in this
black and grey number. I love that it features both features both studs and silver, to help elevate your game day glam!
flirty fringe >>
Represent the great state of texas and your team, while
catching the eye of a hansom stranger in your flirty fringe! TX accesories and stylish cowboy boots show spirit for your team while girlie accessories show your personal style.
try going casually chic while you support your spurs in style!
boyfriend jeans and a graphic tee make you instantly effortless and cool, withe edgy accessories and sky high wedges keep you glam.
grey days >>
keep it casual, yet chic in a monochromatic grey look! A flowy tank, cross body bag and wegde sneakers help make it simple and sporty enough to support the spurs!
twirl worthy >>
Switch up your favorite team tee by tucking it into a twirl worthy skirt! Add studded accesories and cute booties to keep the look sporty and appropriate.
i hope you liked my first tuesday team-up with stylish gameday, tune in for another one soon! until then, swing by stylish gameday to elevate your tailgate and for all of your glamours gameday needs!
yesterday, one of my favorite people turned 22!
so of course we celebrated in style…
little miss channing pickett
is a darling superstar in the making. i’m constantly in awe by her beauty, charm and poise and i cannot wait to see her name in lights where it most certainly belongs! so here’s to you chan, i hope 22 treats you like the queen you most certainly are!
p.s. these’s fabulous pictures were taken by the crazy talented claire eliza
, one of the most inspiring and fantastic people around. thanks claire!
i’m not too fond of tomatoes to snack on but have no problem looking to this vibrate veggie (it’s technically a fruit, but i can’t quite commit to calling it one) for outfit inspiration!
tomato red is a bold color choice, but pairing it with a contrasting color opposite of red on the color-wheel can give it an extra pop! and finishing with black & white takes the look to another level.

this summer, skip the shorts and try a full skirt instead! it will keep you cool, but add an element of sophistication to your summer style! if you don’t happen to have one, try converting a skirt!
