I’m feeling stripey today by twirling through the meatpacking district in the pattern I just cannot stop wearing (or buying) – black and white stripes!
Sooo what do you think of my new bag – lies! It’s not new, as some of you may know its’s my mom’s from the 80s – but it’s mine now and looks brand spankin’ new thanks to a little TLC – where the C strands for cleaning! Although I really liked this bag’s “well-loved” look and thought the wear and tear added to the overall appeal, it’s soooo much nicer to have a clean, flawless, feels-like-new leather bag. As someone who has worked for many a handbag company in her day (Kate Spade, Coach), I was beyond impressed with Leather Honey’s amazing leather cleaner and conditioner – it took years off my Coach Willis without damaging the leather all while maintaining the original quality. I recommend leaving the cleanser on overnight for best results, removing the excess and following up with conditioner the next morning – doing so will help give your well loved leather piece a swanky makeover!
As soon as I saw this asos stripe skirt I knew I had to have it – I felt the same way about these darling striped pointed toe flats so I knew I had to double up on B&W stripes by pairing them together! I was never a big fan of the pointed toe (my feet are too cubby) especially in a flat – but my new go-to shoe has converted me to a pointed-toe believer! I picked them up in black & white stripe on sale at Joe Fresh as well as in solid black patent because I knew I would seriously regret leaving them behind!
P.S. Check out my quirky new phone case, I’m obsessed … Banana phone! What do you think, love it or leave it? (please say love it!)
I was recently featured on fashion bomb daily – yay! There was some really nice (and some not so nice) comments but someone said what my Boyfriend, Paris has been saying for ages – “I wish she didn’t wear sunglasses in every picture”. As a blogger, I have been hiding behind my sunnies lately – it’s just easier but as a reader, I can see why it’s a bit of a turn-off. I try to be as real, honest and down-to-earth as possible on my blog because my readers are so important to me and I want to give them nothing but the best :] as a result I am going to try my best to take off the Karen Walkers every once and a while … here goes nothing! As always I appreciate your constructive criticisms and support – I would love to hear any other suggestions you may have a always try to implement them when possible!
Hi all! I’m really excited to announce a new aspect that I will be adding to my blog from here on out – video (or vlogging, if you will). I have wanted to step into adding video elements to the blog for a while now and finally have the equipment and help to do so. So stay tuned for colorful videos coming soon to a blog near you!
So I am a wee-bit nerdy and am certainly very type A. As a result, I’m obsessed with making (and sticking to) elaborate and detailed to do lists, and my planner – yes, I still keep a handwritten planner, is a work of art. As a result colorful, quality pens are very important to me! My mom and I have even been in a 5 year war over the “perfect pen” – its a random ball point pen that one of us probably stole from a doctors office (oops!). It writes so well that we continue to steal from each other whenever we have the chance, sneaky sneaky. Anyways, the 5 year fight finally came to an end when I let her take home the winning writer when she came to visit a few weeks bag. Why you may ask, because I received the cutest personalize package from Pilot Pen equipped with the most amazing pens to help me write in style!
Pilot pens new line of “fashion pens” inspired me to share some of my current cravings and favorite products right now:
I’m so into colored shades at the moment, and these cool blue ray bans are to die for, plus I’m lusting for the Parisian inspired powder blue pillow from C.wonder – it would look great in my pink and blue bedroom that I can’t wait to share with you! I’m loving this sweet and citrus inspired green hue, especially in skorts (my spring/summer go-to) and limey Nikes! I’ve been wearing converse and sneakers on replay, it’s fun to switch things up with full dresses and girlie touches like pink hues or Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume. Back in the day I was all about orange, and this top shop skirt has me reverting back to my old ways – it’s gorgeous!!! and who doesn’t love a midi! OH and can we talk about this pineapple bag… Swoon! Oh Charlotte Olympia – you can do no wrong.
Happy Wednesday, or should i say trends-day! Today we’re reviewing springs hottest trends and talking about how to reinvent them for summer!
Spring never disappoints in terms of trends and 2014 was no different – pastel hues, crop tops, sporty styles and even overalls were all the rage this year. But as we start to step into summer, it’s time to separate the fading fads from the true trends and determine what styles are here to stay. So today, I’m taking these trends from runway to everyday and reviewing the results; consider this your go-to guide for Spring/summer 2014
Oh Sooo Sporty Sporty styles with an edgy twist were so hot this Spring. Jogger shorts, perforated leather and stylish slide ons worn with leather jackets or cool bombers helped give your gym gear a glamorous makeover!
The sporty trend is perfect for summer weekend wear or even a mini vacay. It’s easy, effortless and just downtown cool – plus, it’s great to have a trend that allows for sneakers and flats! Ditch your leather jacket and wear your jogger shorts, with a cool tee or button down blouse; or pair stylish slide ons and cool sneakers with a flirty summer dress for a fun twist on the trend.

Crop tops are nothing new, but they aren’t just for the six-pack gym rats anymore! If you’re like me, and can’t put down the Cookie Dough Ice Cream (okay, now I’m hungry), or just want to wear this trend while being a little conservative, meet the high waisted skirt – your crop top’s new BFF. This perfect pairing with helps hide the hips, slim your waist and displays a smidge of midriff all while tackling this trend!
We saw long sleeved crop tops and midi skirts for spring, but give this trend a summer make over with short sleeve crop tops with a fun back (open or bow details) to pair with miniskirts or high-waist shorts.
I thought my favorite 90’s trend would be overalls, but I have also been wearing ripped denim and a wrapped around sweater all season long. To make this trend translate to summer, just think shorter – switch jean overalls for overall shorts, and distressed denim for ripped shorts! You can even keep the sweater trend, but swapping it out for a long sleeve tee or light weight flannel.
Ohh and speaking of what’s new & noteworthy this season have you tried giift ? It’s gift card and royalty program management service that will change your world… and wallet! I like itty, bitty, teeny, tiny purses, and therefore even smaller wallets – so I have a bad habit of not signing up for rewards cards because I never want to carry them around and am even worse at keeping up with them! Giift helps you get the best program deals & discounts, convert your points and cards to cash, selling or exchanging cards and share these killer deals with friends! It’s basically Facebook … but for gift cards and loyalty programs. If you’re a shopaholic like me (guilty) you have to give it a whirl, it will change everything!
Today every things coming up roses … well daffodils? yes, i think those are daffodils – I’m really not sure, I don’t know much about other flowers because I’m extremely loyal to peonies and sometimes dabble in gerber dasies… Anyways, every things coming up daffodils (or something) in my seemingly basic b&w look. But don’t fret, there is an element of surprise under this striped trench … so stay tuned!

I’m obsessed with this bow back crop top – as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I mean, black white and a big giant bow, plus it touches on the crop top trend? I mean come on, how could I resist! It’s just long enough to wear with a midi skirt or something high waisted, but has a fun slit in the back. I had to pair it with my favorite striped trench (also here) to add a little mystery to the look – it’s basically the most fabulous mullet ever: traditional black & white in the front and a whimsical bow in the back!
Love these images? me too – a big thanks to Pratik Doshi who shot these – nyc bloggers, if you’re ever in need of photographer, Pratik is your guy! His picture are bright & clear and he’s SO FUN to shoot with! Pop by his Facebook page here // and instagram here
I wore this look last night, when I stepped out to BucketFeet’s pop up shop in Soho. BucketFeet is a super cool, unique show concept – all the shoes are playfully patterned and designed by different artists, each with their own unique style. Mine are designed by Miami based artist, Bad Panda, who drew inspiration from his home town to create my kicks.
I probably need to stop wearing this top … but I can’t! Are you guys sick of it yet? It’s one of the only crop tops I own and I just can’t get enough of this trend #sorrynotsorry. Plus I never say no to black & white stripes annndd I love that it’s long sleeve so it feels a little more conservative (well as conservative as you can get for a crop top).
Before you go – here’s a few iPhone highlights from before & during last nights at Bucketfeet’s new pop up shop in Soho:
Paris & I had a blast in our new shoes. The pop up only lasts 90 days, so run, don’t walk to 108 wooster street to pick up a pair… or if you miss it, you can always order online :] Plus receive 10% off all bucket feet use the code COLORME10
Spring has brought out a surprisngly casual side of my style and I’ve been wearing sporty sneakers on replay all season long. After visiting the Reebok Skyscape event and bringing home a pair of my own, I have been reluctant to take them off. I’ve even resorted to wearing these and/or my nikes (last seen here) with dresses and skirts to give this sporty trend a girly twist (like I did at Waffle’s birthday party here). I need to step into some stilettos soon or I’m afraid I never will again … okay, who are we kidding, I’ll probably be wearing sky high heels tomorrow.
Have you tried trading in your stilettos for sneakers this season?
The 90’s are back, and better than ever! Crop tops, sweaters around the waist and the Backstreet Boys are all the rage (okay, maybe I made that last one up cause I want it that way). Today I’m doubling up on the 90’s trend
I’m a 90’s baby, so I am loving that it’s making a comeback! Right after halloween last year, I had the genius idea to dress up as Dionne from Clueless and am determined to make it happen this October (P.S. have you seen this music video, I’m not usually into rap but I’m obsessed). But when the 90’s trend started popping up this spring, I thought why wait! I can channel Dionne everyday!
I also stopped by the Reebok Skycape event at Chelsea Triangle to test out (and fall in love with) their awesome new shoes. They’re light weight, machine washable, super comfortable and made of foam!!! Yes… foam! Fun fact- They actually make them in the same factory that Victoria Secret makes thier comparable bras! And because their made of foam, you can go sock-less! I’m wearing the Reebok Skycape in pink fusion (shop here) and went home with a pair in coral!
Will you be trying the 90’s trend?
P.S. how beautiful is the freedom tower, I love it!
This post title was inspired by this awesome 1986 jam by Debbie Harry, it’s basically playing on repeat in my head while I write this post. I also love the lyrics plastered on this hilarious sweater by Zoe Karssen (also here). All this red, white and blue action makes me think of Zooey Deschanel and her new collection for Tommy Hilfiger – To Tommy, From Zooey. Knowing my love for Zooey and my previous role at Tommy Hilfiger, I can’t believe we have’t talked about this yet, I’ll have to do a featured post on the line soon (until then, shop here!)
These photos were taken on greenwich ave, one of my favorite drags in the West Village by my good friend, international photographer and favorite Tea date Claire Eliza. After which we promptly stuffed our faces with scones and filled our bellies with hot tea poured from a pot with the Queen’s face on it at my the most darling little tea spot, Tea and Sympathy.

Pearly, girly styles and ulta-femme accesories are all the range for Spring – and I’m obsessed! But, no one does this trend better than the original pearl-master, Chanel.
Chanel’s spring collection had an artsy vibe, but nodded to it’s pearl on pearl history with a headphone inspired giant pearl choker and pearly, bauble bracelets. Chanel can have an immobilizing affect on me, and this choker was not exception. I remember immediately having a “I want it… no, I need it!” reaction to this pretty, pearly number. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, “It wasn’t logic, It was love”.
I wasn’t alone, Karl also shared my favoritism: “My Favorite thing is the new necklace like an earphone, it’s two huge bears, but in fact it’s very flattering because the huge pearls give a beautiful light on the girl’s face”
The word agree’s with Karl. Since, this pearly beaut has graced the cover of Vouge Italia, Vogue Australia and Harper’s Bazaar UK and made appearances on the necks of Miley Cyrus, Keira Knightley, the sister of my Imaginary bestie, Cara Delevingne (I’m convinced Poppy Delevingne and I would be BFFS… someone just needs to tell her!) and my new obsession, Lupita Nyogo’o along with many others. So by now, I was desperate to make it my own, but the $3700+ price tag makes that easier said than done!
After my love at first sight moment and being constantly stalked by this necklace, I knew I had to have it … but since it costs more than a months rent my sane side shut that down and I died a little. But my darling blogger friend, Daisy O (she shares her current pearl obsessions in her most recent pearl-tastic post) brought me back to life a little when she met me for brunch wearing this amazing Chanel-inspired pearl choker from none other than Zara. After swooning, I had to steal her style by picking up this pretty, pearly must-have for myself and I feel like i’ve been wearing it ever since!
For $20 bucks and a trip to Zara, you too can get this amazing and surprising versatile pearl choker necklace! It looks great with a crop top, dressy dress or even a casual tee & boyfriend jeans. Don’t believe me? here’s five ways to wear it!
I hope you liked my Splurge vs Save moment and participation in Credit Card Insider’s initiative to help shopaholics (like me) spend responsibly! The non-stop compliments on this look for less find plus my own satisfaction of getting a stylish steal on a necklace I have been eyeing for ages make me feel as amazing as this necklace! So glad I was able to score such an amazing budget-ista friendly find (thanks again, Daisy)! I would love to hear about your Splurge VS Save story, share it in a comment!
So today’s post features my second go-around with the overall all (first was here). Learning that wearing them is super easy and fun, definitely a trend I would recommend trying. As I told you before, I opted for a skinny fit opposed to the boyfriend cut that most people (and bloggers) have been wearing, in order to keep myself from looking like a child. Overall (ha) the overall trend is really easy and effortless trend to try out this spring, and with some of the super cheap overall options out there at Urban Outfitters and Macy’s you can test it out without breaking the bank!
