Cyber Monday + 1 Coat 3 Ways

30th November 2014

IMG_2675 - Version 2Missed Black Friday? No worries, Cyber Monday is here and I know all the best deals… cause I’m smart¬†like that ūüėČ + I’ll help you make the most of your newest purchases by showing¬†you 1 coat 3 ways.
IMG_2122Untitled 25dIMG_2140 I always use black friday to tackle my christmas shopping, but by the time cyber monday rolls around, I want to splurge on something for myself! If you’re looking for the perfect person to treat yourself with, why not try a super cute new coat? If you’re like me you always wait till mid season to get a new coat! This way, you can get one for half the price, or better yet … two for the price of one! That’s what I did with this super cute new coat of mine, and now I can’t stop wearing it! To prove it to you, in addition to being your sale liaison (I hope you said that with a french accent and perhaps a flick of your wrist hand gesture, if not it’ll give you a chance to try again…) in addition to being your sale liaison for the day, I’ll show you three ways to wear this crazy cute coat.

IMG_1827 IMG_1820_2¬†¬†IMG_1815IMG_1872Coat shopping always stresses me out, one outerwear piece to wear for an entire seasons – that’s¬†like a serious commitment.¬†So you have to find one with a little versatility, this one looks great with leather leggings that play off the panels, knee high boots or even a contrasting blanket scarf.¬† IMG_1900 ¬†IMG_1910 IMG_1921IMG_1901

So Cyber Monday is a¬†funny concept, I am actually kind of surprised it still exists. Sure it made sense back when everyone had Zach Morris phones, a life-time supply of blue eye shadow and had to wait till they returned¬†to work on Monday in order to do some serious online shopping… but since we now live in this new, tech-y we-all-have-twelve-computers-each kind of world, there really isn’t any reason for it. But hey, who am I to say no to another day of awesome deals? So let’s celebrating another day of serious savings, here are the discounted darlings that will be mine!

There are so many things to love about the holidays, food, family, shopping, pie and of course sequins! I love busting out the sparkle for this time of the year, and you should too! So today I’m sharing a holiday glitz and glam look with an edgy twist!sequin skirt sequin pencil skirt how to wear a sequin pencil skirt wear a sequin skirt the perfect sequin skirt how to wear a sequin skirt sequin skirt fashion blogger glitter skirt new york fashion blogger fashion blogger sparkle skirt black fashion blogger ombre hair long bob lob long bob ombre hair hombre hair black fashion blogger color me courtneydsequin skirt sequin pencil skirt how to wear a sequin pencil skirt wear a sequin skirt the perfect sequin skirt how to wear a sequin skirt sequin skirt fashion blogger glitter skirt new york fashion blogger fashion blogger sparkle skirt black fashion blogger ombre hair long bob lob long bob ombre hair hombre hair black fashion blogger color me courtneyPencil skirts aren’t usually my friend, because I’m hippy with a smaller waist, I am usually better suited for a fit and flare skirt that eventuates my smallest point while hiding my not so favorite parts, but sometimes a skirt is so cute that I have to make an exception. I used cropped & contrasting pieces to add a little edge to a girly skirt and the look a little more flattering. Plus I skipped the spanx and wore a black body con dress under everything to double as a top while keeping everything in place. Since this leather jacket hits at the waist, it still draws the eye to my smallest point to make a pencil skirt work even for a curvy girl.sequin skirt sequin pencil skirt how to wear a sequin pencil skirt wear a sequin skirt the perfect sequin skirt how to wear a sequin skirt sequin skirt fashion blogger glitter skirt new york fashion blogger fashion blogger sparkle skirt black fashion blogger ombre hair long bob lob long bob ombre hair hombre hair black fashion blogger color me courtneysequin skirt sequin pencil skirt how to wear a sequin pencil skirt wear a sequin skirt the perfect sequin skirt how to wear a sequin skirt sequin skirt fashion blogger glitter skirt new york fashion blogger fashion blogger sparkle skirt black fashion blogger ombre hair long bob lob long bob ombre hair hombre hair black fashion blogger color me courtneyAside from some serious sparkle, one of my favorite parts has to be the warm and fuzzy feeling of going home for the holidays! Color Me Camo

26th November 2014

IMG_1149¬† ¬†Remember a few weeks back when I totally dressed outside the lines by wearing a camo pencil skirt? (If not, allow¬†me refresh your memory) Well today I’d doing camo the Color Me Courtney way once again, with an unexpected twist.IMG_1206IMG_1186Camo is usually done in an edgy, downtown or even grungy way – neither of which are really me, so I took an otherwise basic black look to the next level with my seasonal go-to pieces, a black cropped sweater and black knee high boots layered over black over the knee socks!IMG_1180IMG_1223 - Version 2

IMG_1194IMG_1228

When wearing camo I treat it like a neutral, wearing it with other patterns and colors the way I would with leopard. So I layered a grey plaid coat over, and added a bold lip for a pop of color!IMG_1179

The Donut Sweater

24th November 2014

donut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessed By now, you should all know that I have a serious problem when it comes to sprinkles – I just can’t stop eating them! My biggest weakness of all has to be the round little frosting friends we like to call donuts.
donut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsesseddonut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessedUntil now, my obsession had infiltrated my bank account, self control, kitchen cabinets, diet (or lack there of) and most certainly, my taste buds, but the time has finally come for it to take a bite out of unchartered territory… my closet. I’m actually surprised it took me so long, I have of course considered stepping into the calorie-clothing club, but hand’t done anything about it until about two weeks ago. I was indulging in my usually sunday morning ritual, sprinkles, donuts and online shopping (in that order… don’t tell my mom, or my dentist) when my sugar high set in and lead my fingers to search for “donut sweater“. It lead me to the sweetest of sweaters for only $20, leaving me with no choice but to add it to cart.donut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessed
I loved the sweater at first bite¬†sight, but then came the questions – how do I wear it? Although I have the eating habits of a toddler (no vegetables just candy) I didn’t want to look like one. Novelty sweaters can be toughies, because you want to keep the whimsy without bringing the immaturity. My solve was pairing it with a tulle skirt and heels – the blush tulle kept the whole frosting theme going but added a touch of sophistication in ¬†classic-with-a-twist way, plus I can’t ever skip out an an opportunity to twirl.donut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessed

I also want to introduce you to my frosting colored friend, the tiniest little kate spade bag you will ever see … mini maise! Isn’t she the cutest? So tiny tiny!!! Don’t worry you’ll be seeing lots more of her ūüėČdonut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessed

If you’re into more boring things like pants and jeans (jk pants are cool too… well kinda) or just want a more casual vibe, try pairing the sweater with distressed denim and a pointed toe pump, or over a button up blouse with coated denim and oxfords!donut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessed

P.S. if you choose to join me in the breakfast club, please note that this sweater is a juniors style, meaning the sizes are a bit confusing¬†(1, 3-5, 7-9 … uh what?) I ended up ordering like 4 sizes and returning the rest (story of my life) but am wearing a size XS, which is what I would usually wear in a sweater situation, so just ignore the weirdo¬†numbers and pick your normal size :)donut sweater how to wear a donut sweater donut sweatshirt donut sweater target donut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater doughnut sweater donut sweater color me courtney donut obsessed

Behind the Scenes with Redbook Mag

20th November 2014

IMG_2279So today’s post is short and sweet but full of some serious exciting stuff – I’m sharing a behind the scenes look at my Redbook Magazine shoot that hit stores this month!¬†RBK120114_025_025This week¬†my first magazine feature hit the stands, and my jaw consequentially hit the floor …¬†It’s actually still there, not sure If I will ever adjust enough to pick it up. Anywho, over the summer had the honor of shooting and styling with the most dapper man around and personally, my favorite gent in fashion¬†– Brad Goreski.¬†Meeting him was a dream come true, but I was fashionably flabbergasted to find out that not only¬†can the guy rock a bow tie (like no other) but he’s also the sweetest, funniest,¬†down-to-earth and all around amazing people on the planet – he know follows me on instagram, like whatttt!. So Between Brad, and the rest of the amazing redbook team, I couldn’t of asked for a better group of people to share this amazing experience with.

I’m usually a high heels and flared skirts kind of girl, but Brad pushed me outside of my comfort zone by putting me in a maxi skirt and flats – a look I totally loved! The skirt gave me great length without the added height (and hasle) of heels! I could see myself wearing something similar when hosting a holiday party – fun-flats to run around in and a sparkle skirt to make a statement in, now all I need is a Martini #cheers!IMG_2057When you shoot with someone you have to feel instantly connected with them or else your photos could end up looking acca-awkward, but this wasn’t the case with Brad.¬†Since we are both bold¬†Leo’s with birthdays right¬†the corner at the time (we shot these looks in july), we were able to chat about celebratory plans, his time in New York and a whole bunch of other random things.¬†Between all the balloons, sequins and some seriously good music (Destiny’s Child on replay, haayy), we pretended like we were prom dates¬†and partied on until we got the shot!¬†10593372_1433280930294562_486169874_nI honestly, couldn’t have asked for a better first magazine feature and am so crazy grateful for this experience! If you’re looking for some great¬†holiday inspo or just want to see a familiar face go pick up the December copy of Redbook Magazine and flip on over to page 25. Brad and I will be waiting for you ūüėČRBK120114_025 copy

Big Big Big thanks to Redbook Magazine,

Plum

19th November 2014

IMG_0207Today I’m playing with pop of purple, specifically plum to dress up an otherwise dreary look.IMG_0240IMG_0203I’ve been all about Fall Pastels (proof here, here and here) but that doesn’t mean I have forgotten about the traditional season statement colors … Jewel Tones! Although I do love me some oxblood and had a serious teal crush once upon¬†a time, this year I have been really into little tiny pops of purple to dress up basics and blacks! It all started when I went to order new over the knee socks to pair with otk boots and found these fun plum hue socks, I knew they would be the perfect pop of color.¬†IMG_0215IMG_0230I look at a lot of blogs and consequentially a lot of different¬†outfits, but sometimes an old blog posts that I saw months or even years ago stick with me for-like-ever and come back to me with the slightest trigger. Blair of Atlantic Pacific used to wear plum purple gloves with matching purple tights (here and here), a look that totally knocked my socks off. It was different, brave, quirky and chic all at once¬†all hail Blaire Eadie.¬†Anyways, seeing these socks totally reminded me of her unforgettable Fall fashion, so I had to share ūüėȬ†

IMG_0223IMG_0244To Play off my purple socks, I added a matching purple lip and a contrasting statement ring in jade green. When working with color pops, it is sometimes refreshing to throw an opposite yet complimentary second hue into the mix in a smaller way. Using a shade that lies across from your pop color on the color wheel will help make your statement color stand out even more and can help pull a whole look together to make it look thoughtful and put together, yet still effortless.IMG_0218

Incase you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of a creature of habit especially with my sense of style. There are certain pieces that I can’t stop wearing, for Fall my knee high boots and blanket scarf is at the top of that list!

When the weather gets grey and soggy I am left with two options – stay in and snuggle with Waffles (always a win) or bundle up and venture out into the storm … often while pretending I’m in London and talking in a British accent #brillant. Although a Gilmore Girl marathon with my French Bulldog in my lap is always temping, I¬†tried to step out and shake off the storm, but couldn’t do so without my current fashion favorites oh and a¬†giant¬†chai tea latte!

I’ve worn my new BFF’s in multiple ways, but today they are coming together with a little trendy twist. For this look, I did a little pattern play (are you surprised?) by pairing my plaid blanket scarf with this heathered grey coat! I turned this Old Navy¬†oxblood skirt which is more of a midi length into a mini by rolling the waist band a few times to shorten then length and show a little skin between my knee high boots! All though I am on a repeat offendor with wearing and rewearing my¬†blanket scarf and knee high boots, the star of this look¬†has to be the veil beanie – it was such a different look for me that I had to give it a whirl and I’m so glad I did! A veil beanie goes great with a¬†blanket scarf, leather leggings and a sweater, pretty much any¬†all black look, a leather jacket or a skirt/coat/boot¬†combination like me!how to wear the blanket scarf how to wear a blanket scarf fashion blogger new york fashion blogger new york fashion blog nyc fashion blog nyc fashion blog new york fashion blog veil beanie blanket scarf blogger blanket scarf how to wear a blanket scarf blanket scarf plaid blanket scarf veil beanie how to wear a veil beanie wear a veil beanie
