2015 – A Year of Color!

31st December 2015

IMG_2366This year has been Color Me Crazy! Literally! SO much has happened in the brightest ways possible! so lets take a second to reflect! 1111

Most years are full of highs and lows and I definitely had a few good shower cry this year, but honestly the positives totally out weight the negatives. Looking back on a year I usually have regrets or problems I care to forget but I was really luck and 2015 was really good to me. I got to collab with some crazy cool brands (Marc Jacobs, Aerie, Dunkin Donuts, Disney, Martha Stewart and FAB to name a few), I designed a shoe for Keds (like what), ventured into the world of stop motion video (see them here) with the help of Frederique Stone, went to Disney Land with my best friends, I moved into a new apartment, my best friends spent the Summer in NYC, I launched a Youtube channel, Hosted events, saw way too many broadway shows (and by too many I mean not enough), Waffles turned Three #old, I went to Boston three times – twice for one and once for play, We reached 100K followers on Instagram (OMG YAY! thanks so much for following along) and got to meet some of you awesome people along the way! 🙂

It’s hard to pick a top moment but I think creating the stop motion videos and youtube videos have been not only the most challenging part but also the most fun and I hope you really liked seeing them!

Incase you missed it, here are my Favorite Posts of the year! A total Must read!!!

The Little Sequin Dress, Remixed

31st December 2015

aaa-2174Let’s teach an old dress, new tricks!aaa-2154

Happy almost NYE! If you’re a girl, chances are you have a glittery, sequin dress in your closet from New Years Eve last year, or the year before! And if you don’t, you definitely have a sister or a friend who does! Well with NYE right around the corner, and the demand for glittery dresses at an all time high, I thought it might be fun to share a really easy way to teach an old dress some new tricks!aaa-2180

Here I’m wearing a sparkly dress – full disclosure, its new but I have an identical one in my back up closet in Arizona in navy and one in black from a few years before as well. But I was able to breathe new life into it in a current way with a few easy adjustments!aaa-2182

1 – Change the shape! Adding a little black blazer or tuxedo vest adds dimension to a shift dress by creating a new shape up top and making a more flattering
2 – Alter the hemline! I paired this LSD (little sequin dress) with over the knee boots instead of black tights and stilettos like I have before. Not only does it bring a different shoe, but also it tricks the eye into thinking its a different length all together!aaa-2178
3 – Add something unexpected! Ironically my “unexpected” element has become pretty expected for me lol but you get the point! I added a red lip and a leopard clutch to mix things up and add a new touch to this LSD!aaa-2183

SO if you’re stressing about what to wear tomorrow night, or dreading spending money on something new and sparkly – DON’T. Just remix what’s in your closet and work with what you got!aaa-2177

If you’re still wanting something new, these sequin pretties have free one day shipping with Amazon Prime!

Party Pants for NYE – 2 ways to wear

29th December 2015

IMG_5263It’s no secret that I’m not much of a pants wearer – I mean come on, why would I step into jeans when I can twirl my way through life in full skirts and dresses? #duh. But when the temps drop (even in warmer areas like Arizona where I’m currently residing for the holidays) sometimes it’s best to step into pants for NYE. Oh and if you do choose to wear pants for NYE you’ll totally stand out in the best way possible!  IMG_5174

So today I’m sharing two NYE looks featuring pants – one dressy and one casual for whatever you’re getting into on NYE.IMG_5136

Dressy, Dressy – It’s super fun to get dressed up for NYE but instead of pulling on a party dress, i opted for sequin pants and sassy stilettos for an unexpected dressy look!IMG_5143

The TRUTH about sequin pants.
Okay guys, if you follow lots of bloggers/instagrammers like me you’ve seen SO MANY sequin pants/leggings for NYE – the other thing I see is lots of skinny legs (no judgement, I think it’s awesome if you have skinny legs – but I don’t lol). So instead of telling you how awesome sequin pants are (and they are) I thought i would tell you the TRUTH about wearing sequin pants, because it’s not all sparkles and rainbows – it’s hard work!IMG_5180

If you have sequin pants but no thigh gap in sight (guilty and proud) then wearing these sequined pretties might not be such a picnic – your thighs WILL stick together and get caught on each the sequins… it’s gonna happen. You’ll be walking along and all of a sudden BAM you’re stuck, you almost trip and you have to awkwardly unhook yourself before anyone notices. LOL lucky for me I don’t mind and I think its kind of funny but I thought you should know what you’re getting into! The good thing is, they aren’t itchy, they are fully lined and actually comfortable! Plus they have an elastic waist band perfect for the girl who wants to have it all and eat it all two … #me.IMG_5159

Keep it Casual – I’m much more of a home body, I take cookies, video games and dance parties in my apartment over a night out on the town any day #sorryImlame … now you know!IMG_5234

For this look I kept things casual yet festive by pairing an oversized sequin cardigan with high waisted jeans some glittery keds!IMG_5212IMG_5247

This outfit is perfect for a NYE like I usually have, getting dinner or ordering in with friends, playing board games and eating your weight in dessert while watching the ball drop on the TV! I know its not as sparkly as a usual New Years Eve, but I always have more fun staying in with my favorite people instead of stepping out with a bunch of strangers, it’s just a personal preference 🙂IMG_5233

Forever Striped!

It’s no secret that I love Black & White Stripes – I just feel like you can’t go wrong with a stripe on stripe look in this classic color way! While B&W can be totally chic, I like to make mine fun and playful by pairing them with statement shoes, a bright lip and a little bit of leopard (check the belt). Oh and if all else fails, just find a crazy colored wall to help brighten up your look 😉 I know that always works for me.IMG_4557-2

Lots of people shy away from print on print, but you really don’t have to – there’s something effortlessly cool about doubling up on a favorite pattern and the easiest way to try is by diving head first into black and white stripes. Picking up a crop top & matching skirt in the same color/pattern combo gives you unlimited options to wear them – you can double up (like I did) and either dress it up or dress it down try it with black tights and heels or a bright coat! But if you’re looking to rewear these pieces separately, try the top with skinny jeans or the skirt with a snuggly sweater! Really, there are so many ways you can rock a crazy cute set like this!IMG_4675-2IMG_4656-2

More stripey steals:

Black Tie / Blue Jean

28th December 2015

IMG_3684Black Tie, Blue Jean – To be honest this was a dress code I hadn’t yet heard of and was somewhat reluctant to try, but in the end, sure glad I gave it a whirl!IMG_3695IMG_7068

So today we’re talking all about “Black Tie, Blue Jean” – a seriously cool “dress-up” theme for your next swanky soirée, and why it’s a total must try.IMG_3698IMG_7111

Paris (my boyfriend) has the coolest job ever: he works at Team Epiphany a not-your-average creative marketing/branding agency in NYC known for, and host to some of the city’s best parties. Seriously… everyone who’s anyone is invited, and I’m just lucky enough to be his plus one ;). TE always knows how to party in style, so it’s no surprise that they were the masterminds behind this epic dress code.IMG_3696 IMG_3703

Paris and I attended the TE holiday party in our finest black tie meets blue jean attire – I don’t usually wear jeans, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dress in theme so I made it work with a waisted skinny jean – that happen to be on sale for $34! I found this lace blouse with a built in velvet bow tie and paired it with a old satin black blazer of mine to meet the “black tie” requirements. Finishing touches were a bold lip with matching velvet pumps, my go-to leopard clutch and a quirky glasses bangle.IMG_3712 IMG_3714

Paris always dresses to impress, he remixed the classics by pairing blue jeans, a white dress shirt and dress shoes with a lavender blazer, grey skinny tie and striped scarf. We unintentionally coordinated, but not in an over-the-top, prom-date sort of way, so it worked out perfectly!IMG_7060 IMG_7084

The party was held at a classic car museum space, which made a perfect back drop for our outfits. It was also really fun to see how everyone interpreted this trend – some wore tux jackets with blue jeans and sneakers, others rocked distressed denim with bold blazers and a few even wore chambray shirts with dress pants, which I thought was a really clever twist on the dress code!IMG_7077

I think that TE is definitely on to something with this fun theme – it’s a dress code that everyone can get into (even those friends who refuse to dress up, everyone has those #boo) and would be SO PERFECT for a fun birthday dinner, night out with a group, bachelor(ette) party or for NYE! If you’re hosting something sparkly in the near future, I hope you give this dress code a try!IMG_3734 IMG_7113

Travel Style

24th December 2015

20151220-IMG_3749There’s nothing quite like going home from the holidays!20151220-IMG_3751

Backpack || Laptop Case || Suitcase || Pom || Boots || Coat || Dress20151220-IMG_3755

Today’s post is all about holiday travel style – because airport style is super important, am I right? For me traveling is all about being conformable first, practical second and cute third. I look at those airport pics that bloggers post sometimes and think – they HAVE to be checking a bag because no one can run through the airport in sneaker wedges or a midi skirt – I don’t care how early you show up!     20151220-IMG_3766

Looking Airport-Chic is totally fine and dandy if you have serious room in your suitcase –  but I have to share a secret with you, I’m TERRIFIED of checking a bag, so I never, ever do it! I just know ALL my stuff will get lost and that’s not worth it. So I pack crazy smart, and small and never, EVER check a bag! SO that means I have to wear my biggest pieces – I.E. my coat and OTK boots.20151220-IMG_3769

When I’m traveling to somewhere warmer (like Arizona which is home for me) I wear something like this – a sweater dress and Over The Knee boots. Since I land mid day AZ time I’ll be going straight from the airport to exploring my home state, so I want to be able to shed my jacket and fit right in! This sweater dress is comfortable enough to fly in and cute enough to wear all day.20151220-IMG_3761

To keep things “me” I brought my bright suitcase that I accessorized with double poms! I choose red for my suit case color because 90% of the time I’m wearing a red lip, so it never really clashes! I travel with my a little backpack and my laptop (which is technically three items not two) but I always walk on the plane with my laptop and magazines in my hand and they never give me any issues.20151220-IMG_3771

I hope you’re going somewhere fun this season but honestly, over the years I’ve learned that home is really where the heart is – when my family comes to New York for Christmas as they have the past few years we may stay in a hotel (my apartment can’t handle all that family) but we have a seriously fun time – it really doesn’t matter where we are as long as we’re together.20151220-IMG_3798

Ringing in the Season

20th December 2015

20151214-IMG_3187Jewels, and glitz and glitter – Oh My!20151214-IMG_311320151214-IMG_3129

Today we’re having a jewel party to ring in the holiday season and all it’s glory! With festivities in full swing, there are so many things to celebrate, decorate and exaggerate – including your ring game. What’s your style? Crazy colorful? Edgy and Cool? Layered for days? All of the above? No matter what your go-to look is, you can translate that onto your ring style and let your fingers do the talking. To prove it to you, today I’ll share three different party looks layered in fine jewels by Fortunoff Jewelry!

All of the Colors20151214-IMG_317920151214-IMG_3191
It’s no secret I’m a sucker for bright. When it comes to color, I want all of them… and a little more! I like my rings like I like my sprinkles, in excess and seriously saturated! Fortunoff has one of the most amazing selections of colored jewels I’ve seen, try investing in a few favorite colors to wear with your solid silver or gold rings or taking a page out of my book and mixing your matches while experimenting with color! For my neutral gals that like to play things safe in the color department, bring rings is the perfect way to get your feet, eh hands wet without committing to a bright dress or bold lip!

20151214-IMG_317120151214-IMG_3200 20151214-IMG_3178

Classic with a Twist20151214-IMG_3263 20151214-IMG_3319

You can’t beat the classics, well unless you mix them with the modern. Bringing new light into timeless rings by layering them together, pairing silver with gold and doubling up on statement styles is a sure way to make an impact this season. I love that all of these jewels (and everything at Fortunoff) are strong enough to be worn on their own, but awesome when paired seamlessly with other styles!

Mix and Metal! 20151214-IMG_3048 20151214-IMG_3018
Mixing metals is a total game changer – why pick one shiny pretty when I could wear them all? I found SO MANY magically metallic rings A la Fortunoff, that spoke to me. I’ve never been much of an edgy gall, but I love that the mix of metals gives off a cooler vibe! The mixing didn’t stop at metals, I added in some sparkly pieces, classic rings and fashion forward styles to create a more is more holiday look!

All Dressed Up – The Perfect Party Look

19th December 2015

20151212-IMG_2297Christmas is literally around the corner (eek) and the next two weeks are all about celebrating in style.20151212-IMG_2259 20151212-IMG_2302 20151212-IMG_2340

The glittery dress has been done before, it’s cute but come on – you want to sparkle this season in a whole new way by pushing the boundaries of holiday dressing right? Right!20151212-IMG_236620151212-IMG_2308

A long sleeve lace dress is a fun way to take a conservative dress out for a spin this season! I paired my with my favorite leopard clutch and velvet heels to make it a little traditional and add some elements of fun!20151212-IMG_232420151212-IMG_2337

My favorite part about this dress is the collared neck and bow detail – its so cute, classic and just darling! This dress will totally make you the talk of the town at any party!

BYOB – Bring Your Own Bucket!20151212-IMG_2365
Everyone brings bubbly to the party, so switch things up by bringing the drink and the bucket to keep it in! Showing up with a cute ice bucket will put a serious smile on your hosts face! I picked up this crazy cute Kate Spade one at Macys before stepping out to dance the night away!20151212-IMG_235020151212-IMG_2358

Do The Twist – The Perfect Party Look

17th December 2015

20151212-IMG_2492I’m here to party – and by party I mean DANCE (and eat)     20151212-IMG_2510 20151212-IMG_2522

It’s no secret that fit and flare dresses are kind of crazy cute! They’re super flattering, fun and a sure fire way to make a statement. But if you’re anything like me, you go to parties to eat and dance (not necessarily in that order) so sometimes a tight fitting dress isn’t the best fit.20151212-IMG_2499s

Instead, try twirling the night a ware in a loose fitting black swing dress! If you’re shaped like me it’s not the most flattering thing you can wear, but if you off set this drapey dress with a light weight clutch and high heels you’ll look longer and taller, making it more flattering!20151212-IMG_250420151212-IMG_2495

Make sure you wear your hair down too (I know, weird right) and a little lipstick! Wearing it down will help even out your proportions and the red lip will draw the attention to your face! I also love the bell sleeve detail and ruffle feel for a little flirty twist!

An Unconventional Hostess Gift – A record!

Do a little time traveling with your gifting by bringing some vintage vinyl or a classic album! Urban outfitters has an awesome selection of Vinyl records like Elf and Charlie Brown Christmas plus current alums from Top Artists – I also picked up the Carly Rae Album  – cause she’s my girl20151212-IMG_2501!
