Gosh it’s hot! In New York, we LIVE in the heat, you wake up in your apartment without central air, then you walk outside to work (or the subway) and wait in the heat until you finally get to your office (a place with central air, and therefore one of the best parts of your day)…. unless you work from home, like me, where you spend most of the day without central air conditioning, hanging out in the heat and trying not to sweat to death. Not sure what I mean? Take a look at this video to see exactly what I’m talking about:
Summer is also a time when you’re supposed to be able to picnic outside, play at the park or spend the day at Coney Island – but that’s tough to do when your fabric doesn’t breathe – enter the solution, cotton!
SO When it comes to having Summer Fun without feeling the heat I turn to my go-to fabric, cotton! Cotton is the most breathable, send repellant and durable fabric out there – plus it’s washable, all totally necessary things for a successful summer. It helps you look good and feel good inside and our, plus the fabric is not only comfortable, but durable enough for multiple wears. Most importantly, cotton is everywhere – some of your favorite pieces in your closet (like that little white dress or your favorite pair of jeans) are probably cotton.

‘Tis the season …. for a wedding! All my life I have dreamed of my BIG day … the day I would finally get to be a bridesmaid!Call me crazy, but while most little girls were waiting for their wedding day, I’ve been waiting for my best friend(s) to tie the knot! I’m a big planner, I like to put things together and plan parties – that’s fun for me! SO naturally I was born to be a bridesmaid, or more accurately a maid of honor – but when you’re friends have sisters, you’ll settle for bridesmaid/queen of the batch (meaning the type A one who helps run things and gets the plan the bachelorette, yay!)
Last year was pretty epic for me, two of my closest friends got engaged and that meant that not only my friends we’re happy and in love … but also that, I GET TO BE IN A WEDDING!
I have about 4 or 5 really good friends that are “bridesmaid” material (I like to focus on quality over quantity) and the feeling is mutual on both ends, but until now none have gotten close to walking down the aisle, so my bridesmaid opportunities were few and far between, tear. But all that changed earlier this year – you should have seen me when I got the invite to be a bridesmaid for my friend Emily’s wedding in the mail, I freaked! You would have thought I was the one getting married, and I was probably at about that level of excitement!
Flash forward to six months later, we have the bridesmaid dresses (Emily has great taste, so we’re wearing the cutest floral dresses [pictured] in different styles … and mine has pockets!), my flight is booked, Paris is my date, and we’ve been given free reign on hair, so I’ll probably do it in some kind of updo, so the only thing left to decide on is makeup!
Emily is the most chill bride ever and is letting us do our own makeup (score) so I hit up the bridal section at Sephora to get everything I needed to create a glowy, summer wedding look – perfect for a bridesmaid, or wedding guest – I even picked up a gift card for the Bride-To-Be so she could pick up something new for the big day!
The end result is natural but turned up a notch with bright eyes, radiant skin, bold brow and pink tones. It’s dressy enough to shine at the event, without being too dramatic to take away from the bride – after all, it’s her day! The best part about a one stop shop with trendy makeup must haves like Sephora, is you can restock on your make up favs and add a few new things to the mix for a special occasion, like a wedding!
Press play to see how I’ll get ready for Em’s big day!
Clothes are obviously important to me, I’m always trying out new trends, pushing fashion boundaries and forever dressing outside the lines… but doing so isn’t always easy. Luckily, I have a secret super power that allows me to test the waters, and try something new without fear – confidence.
I’m a firm believer that you’re never fully dressed without a smile … or confidence! If you show up with killer confidence, you can wear anything and totally own a room. My secret to confidence is always comfort, when I feel like myself, I can really act like myself in the most natural way.
Lately, I’ve been attending a lot of swanky work events, everything from the Young Members Party at the Met to the VH1 Hip Hop Honors at Lincoln Center. At these events, I always have to look the part, usually renting a designer dress (often made of itchy fabrics) and stepping into sky high stilettos. SO how does one find comfort in shoes that pinch and a dress that isn’t your own? You stick to what you know, even if no one can see it… I’m talking about undies ladies and I don’t care who knows it!
I love a good cotton brief – it’s light weight, it’s comfortable and it just makes me feel like me! Full disclosure – I’m usually writing these posts when I’m my most comfortable, sitting next to my air conditioning unit at 2AM in an oversized Hanes cotton tee and briefs, because let’s be honest, sometimes that is way more comfortable than pajamas. I love that feeling, so I don’t know why I have to leave it for my late night blogging adventures, I want to take it with me out into the real world as my secret super power and one stop shop for immediate Comfydence (comfy + confident = comfydence)! So now you know, underneath that $1,500 Christian Siriano gown, flirty feather skirt or gorgeous fit and flare dress (all pictured), I’m keeping comfydent in my go-to Hanes Cool Comfort cotton underwear, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
So if I love my Hanes SO MUCH why hide them? I agree! When I’m not walking the red carpet, it’s kind of fun to show off my comfydence in a more playful way. Since I grew up dancing, I was always living in “spankies” which are basically short spandex shorts made for dancing! For as long as I can remember, I would wear these shorts under everything from twirl worthy dresses to flowy shorts and even jeans – I just loved the added comfort they gave me! When I moved to NYC and experienced some serious humidity for the first time, I realized the spandex fabric had to go, so I switched on over to boy shorts, like these cuties from Hanes! This summer has been especially swampy, so I’m loving their new Cool Comfort packs! They help me achieve my ultimate level of comfydence, enough to let them show a little while pairing them with a perfect cotton tee! Thanks to Hanes for partnering on this post.
You know I’m all about sweet snacks, so today I’m sharing some of my favorite not-so-known treats from Pocky! I’m sure you’ve all heard about Pocky, a Japanese snack dating back to the 60’s made from coated biscuit sticks, but you might not know it’s one of my go-to treats to eat!
Ever since I visited Japan last year, I’ve been obsessed with all things Japanese, especially in the snack department (did you know they have green tea flavored kit cats and shrimp flavored chips? WHAT!). That’s when I first discovered all of the fun flavors Pocky has to offer – before I thought they only did their classic chocolate coated ones, and don’t hate me but I’m not that much of a chocolate girl, so I was CRAZY HAPPY to learn about the other flavors. Today I’m sharing my FAV for you in a fun stylized editorial that I like to call POCKYPOPART! Plus I’m rounding up a few fun outfits that make me feel like these flavors taste, I hope it brings a big smile to your face!
Berry Berry Sweet!
Okay, so another fun fact about me is I’m allergic to strawberries, but growing up I never liked them. I remember my grandma would always try to feed me them and I would eat them and pretend I liked them because I liked her but I would end up just covering them in sugar so I could get them down, lol – Sorry Gma! In college when I started “juicing” I quickly learned that I couldn’t eat strawberries after my throat started swelling up, oops! But since I never liked them, that was okay with me – the hardest thing to give up was my favorite flavor of ice cream (strawberry) and donut frosting (strawberry/pink!). Sometimes, I can get away with ice cream, and I can usually always eat frosting but sometimes skip it just incase, so once again I was PUMPED to discover Strawberry Pocky! All of the favor, without the allergies and berry, berry sweet to eat! Eating the Strawberry Pocky makes me feel, elegant, girly, giggle and fun – just like this pretty in pink dress!
Cookies and Cream!
My favorite ice cream flavor? Cookies and cream. My preferred Milkshake? Cookies and cream. My go-to Mcflurry? Cookies and cream. My favorite cookie snack? Those black little cookies with white frosting that start with an OH and taste like, oh you know, Cookies and cream! SO I think it’s safe to say I’m a phone for cookies and cream – naturally I was all excited to try the Pocky version of my favorite flavor and it did not disappoint! The juxtaposition of the sweet coating with the biscuit is the perfect combination for a sweet snack that’s not too sweet! To play off this fun flavor, I paired it with a dress that is flirty and sweet with a bit of crunch!
To be honest, I don’t like bananas (am I a picky eater? … or avocados [don’t hate me, I know thats like breaking the blogger code or something to not be into Guac and Avocado Toast lol] or Oatmeal) It’s not about the taste, it’s because of the texture I know, I’m weird. BUT I do love banana flavoring, so a good banana ice cream, banana smoothie (blended, so not texture) or a banana covered biscuit! So I was pretty pumped to learn about the Chocolate Banana Pocky flavor. It smells like the King Kong ride at Universal Studios (does anyone remember that ride? when you met King King he would roar and the ride would be filled with the smell of bananas, ha – Banana Breath) So it instantly brought me back to a happy childhood moment of banana bliss, plus the sticks are fun and yellow colored so naturally they make me feel all excited and happy just like the dress! Plus I love the nod to the mod with this 60’s inspired dress, perfect for a historic snack that dates back to that decade!
What’s your favorite Pockyflavor? The best part about this pocket sized snack is that it’s meant to be shared – you can pop open a box and share the happiness with whoever’s around! It’s perfect to take to work and pop on your desk, or carry in your purse to enjoy on your commute, you could even try a few when you’re standing in line waiting for something and share with the person in front and behind you – how awesome would that be to share a little love and sweetness with a stranger, who knows you might totally brighten their day!
GUYS! It’s hot! Summer is in full swing and I spend most days hunting for ice cream, shade or (let’s be honest) both. I always find myself living in a few outfits or dresses come summer, and today I’m sharing one of them!
I picked up this vintage-esuqe cotton two piece because it’s so cute and crazy comfortable – plus totally twirl worthy. The light fabric keeps me cool and midi length keeps me covered, plus the top is so supportive I can go bra-less (tmi?) which is a total plus for me!
A cool outfit is only half the battle, you also need to snack on something sweet to help you unwind in the summer, right!? Call my crazy, but I love me some ice cream! But I’m also a sucker for a good cookie too — so when I find myself in need of something sweet, how can I possibly choose between the two!?
Well the good news is you no longer have to! Baskin-Robbins offers Warm Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich that I can’t stop eating this summer!
They sandwich their famous flavors between the cookie of your choice and you can choose from custom creations (like I did) or the created flavors like Dark Chocolate Chunk, Double Fudge, Peanut Butter Chocolate, White Chunk Macadamia. You can use ANY ice cream offered at Baskin-Robbins so naturally I went with a chocolate chip cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream and a M&M cookie with cherry ice cream and rainbow sprinkles!
TheseWarm Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches are (obvi) served warm but the ice cream is cool – so it’s the perfect way to get a hot summer treat that also cools you down, I know – BANANAS! I’ll eat them on a stoop around the corning from a Baskin-Robbins store or take a few home to save for later (there are three in my freezer right now, #whoops). OH and how cute would it be to host an ice cream social with these sweet treats? Such a unique twist on the classic dessert party. OR if you’re really wild (and TBH I totally did this) you can have one for breakfast! Before you judge me, I’ll give you some context! I Was up late pulling an all nighter working on blog projects, and slept for about 75 min (zzZzzz) so I heading to Dunkin Donuts in search for sprinkles, when I realized my DD is connected to a Baskin-Robbins and though, “Hey – why not” and viola, dessert for breakfast!
Anyways – however you snack on one, a Warm Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich from Baskin-Robbins is SURE to rock your world! Give it a taste and tell me what you think.
I’m a sucker for a good romper, I live in them all summer – especially a cute denim one! Rompers are perfect for dinner and a movie, a summer BBQ, trip to the beach, a weekend vacay or even brunch with your girlfriends. If you’re spending any time outside this summer, you’ll need a super special romper somewhere in your closet!
Since Denim is cotton, it actually breathes and makes a great summer go-to fabric for your romper choice! To prove it, today I’ve linked up a few of my favorite denim rompers at various price points (most are under $100) for you!
When it comes to hair care, I like to keep it simple when I can. I like products that are affordable, obtainable and easy to use – but also new and innovative! For as long as I can remember, I’ve been shopping for beauty products at drugstores or better yet, grocery stores while I pick up a few other necessities.
Today I’m excited to partner with Kroger to share a few of my current favorite Kroger find from Dove and Suave. PLUS I’ll be showing an easy tutorial that can help take your three day, dirty hair from drab to fab in an easy top knot. Oh and if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a giveaway below!
For Shampoo and Conditioner, it’s always a wild card for me – especially in the summer. My hair gets damaged, dry and just disgusting in this New York heat! I needed something to switch up my routine, leave me feeling clean and fresh but also nourished… enter Suave Seaminerals! This her formula helps you achieve volume and moisture, which is much needed for me come summer. BONUS it smells delicious. It keeps my hair cleaner for longer so I can go days without needing to wash (my hair is so dry it doesn’t get oily – weird I know) but when I do hit that three day mark and I maybe need a new wash – I can stretch my locks one day longer with this easy top knot tutorial.
I used Dove Style + Care Hairspray to create my top knots – another great Kroger find! It has a pretty strong hold, but is also really flexible, which is important when you’re twirling your hair into a top knot. It also has shine which is the perfect way to help hide dry and damaged hair in a style like this. My secret is I spray before and after to make sure nothing falls out of place!
GIVEAWAY! – To sweeten the deal today, we’re giving away a curated gift basket from Kroger and a gift card to get your shopping on! Just leave a comment below and subscribe to my youtube channel.

There is never a short supply of fun things to do in the city, and thanks to LOFT here’s one more – an outdoor summer movie!
Summer movies under the stars are one of my favorite things to do al fresco this season, so I always make sure I attend at least one each year! Earlier this week, I headed to Solar One for the LOL Movie Series with LOFT to see one of my all time favorite movies, Clueless!
For this epic summer adventure, I needed an epic summer dress, duh! I wore the cutest polka dot drop waist shift dress from LOFT but made it my own with brown accents. Since I’m short and curvy, a shift dress isn’t usually my friend. I belted it at the waist to create a more fit and flare shape while showing off my smallest point! I can always rely on LOFT for affordable yet chic pieces that don’t break the bank, but can always be worn year after year. They really know how to walk the line between timelessness and trendiness to create showstopping pieces I’ll be able to wear for work or play!
The night was a blast. It started with live music (and pizza) before we got seats for a fun, live comedy show! Then the fun really began as the sun finally set and we were able to start the show! I was sure to BYOB (bring my own blanket) for when things got chilly, but a denim jacket from LOFT would have also done the trick! If the night was a bit cooler (we’ve actually been having some pretty cool nights this summer)I could have even kept the polka dot party going with some cute spotted pants from LOFT and a flow sleeved blouse. Whatever you wear to this LOL movie night, make sure you make it fun & functional for a night under the stars!
If you missed the first movie night with LOFT, no fear, they are back next Tuesday (and the Tuesday after that, and the Tuesday after that) with more epic shows under the stars! The lineup includes movie favorites like Pitch Perfect, Pretty in Pink and When Harry Met Sally!
Summer is sweeter in sundresses and statement shoes!
I love to shop at Old Navy for summer essentials! I can always find something special to add to my dress collection. This month they are giving me some serious bohemian vibes with cool prints and muted colors, all done in a fun yet affordable way. I just recently snagged this sunshine sundress, to wear on replay! I’ve dressed it down with white sneakers or up a bit with a dressy wedge – for todays look I went with dressy casual, by pairing my favorite Old Navy shoes with a denim jacket and a boater hat, this look was perfect for a popsicle date at our favorite summer dessert destination.
When it gets hot, I need ice cream – stat! But a gelato a day isn’t always the healthiest of options, so sometimes we cut our calories by hopping to popbar in our neighborhood. There you can get a a custom pop, dipped in a variety of things and coated with whatever your cotton candy dreams desire! This time I went with a blood orange sherbet pop, half dipped in white chocolate in coconut, but I’m also known for getting a mango pop dipped in milk chocolate and coated with crushed cone and coconut! Whatever summer adventure is next on your agenda, I hope you have a blast and look amazing in something simple, yet fun like this sunshine dress from Old Navy! I think this season is one of the most fun to dress for, and a lack of layers doesn’t have to result in a lack of style!
