little bit of leopard

19th October 2012

let’s talk leopard… && pair this puurrfect print with a cute contrasting color combo

reds && blues make a great color combo && any shade will work. here i went for a deeper teal blue with a bright candy apple red, but turquoise && red orange also work really well together!
when you are working with a contrasting color combo, just try to keep the rest of the outfit neutral with golds, nudes or black && white. but don’t be afraid to spice it all up with a little bit of leopard
sweater: kate spade (i scored this little lady for a steal at the ksny palm springs outlet earlier this week) (here’s this year’s version) //  skirt: h&m // pumps: kate spade (only in stores) // purse: kate spade (another outlet steal) // necklace: francescas // belt: kate spade (similar) // rings: kate spade // forever 21 (old) //  arm party: sequin // kate spade (similar) // sequin // kate spade (old) // michael kors // kate spade

20th September 2012

layering (yes, i’m hyping layering again, don’t judge me) can help you transform a few pieces into very different outfits!
for today’s outfit I layered an orange and white shirt over one of my favorite courtney green (yes, courtney green, not kelly green, because no one named kelly loves this color as much as I do) dressess. oh & if that didn’t excite you, my pup waffles joined my for this post!

with the bright colors and simple patterns, this look is a little bit preppy! in fact, my looks seem to be getting preppier and preppier lately. i’m really not too surprised my style always switches up during the fall, believe it or not, a few seasons ago I went edgy (crazy, i know!)

layering a shirt over a dress is an easy way to switch up your look and make people look twice. something as simple as knotting your top at the waist will help cinch your center and define your waist. wearing a top over also allows your favorite dress to double as a sassy skirt!

top: h&m (spring) // dress: amanda uprichard (worn under) // shoes: john fluevog (on sale!!!! i’m so obsessed with mine, i’m about to buy a second pair! they are beyond adorable && so comfortable!) // handbag: diy (coming soon) // scarf: vintage // earrings: coach // necklace: j.crew // arm party: kate spade// j.crew // sequin // kate spade bangle x3 // sequin // vintage // sequin
before you go, i want your thoughts on this looks color combo? i rarely pair green && orange together for fear of looking like a carrot, but i think if you use the right shades && throw in some white, it works! do you agree? i even think it would make a really cute color combo for home decor! here’s what i was thinking…
as always, tell me what you’re thinking! until next time, stay fabulous.

Life’s a Picnic.

20th August 2012

Today I’m crushing on another outrageous color combo.
… and channeling my passion for picnics into a perfect little outfit for all of your outdoor eating needs.

I la-la-love picnics! Unfortunately, being the busy bee I am, I rarely get to stop and smell the roses, let alone enjoy a fabulous little picnic, but that doesn’t stop me for dressing like I can!when I think picnic, my mind goes straight to gingham, but checks are not necessarily necessary for a picnic inspired summer look! Try other patterns two like perfect polka-dots to give you that dash of afternoon whimsy. Did I mention I absolutely adore this spotted skirt? It’s comes custom sized from KTR designs & I couldn’t be more smitten, take a peek!
When creating a look based on a color crush, get creative! If you need a red/orange shirt but your closet isn’t providing one, look to your dresses for the solution! Here I turned my dress into a shirt by tucking it into my spotted skirt before layering up with the cardie.
Dress: Single (worn as a shirt) // Cardie: Nordies. Skirt: KTR. Pumps: Fluevog. Hangbag: Kate Spade. Lipstick: NARS Dragon Girl // Earrings: Kate Spade // Arm Party: Kate Spade // Nordies // J.crew // Kate Spade // Nordies // Kate Spade Ring // Domino RingPhotobucket

Bright Stripes

28th June 2012

Today’s look is all about pairing crazy amounts of color with plenty of pattern!
Using these citrus-y hues, I was able to create a summery striped outfit that makes a bright yet unexpected statement look!

It seems I’ve come down with another case of the stripes! Hence the stripe on stripe pairing in this look! I am definitely not afraid to mix patterns, and really no one should be!
Does this skirt look familiar? It’s the katie skirt, From Sandee Royalty… in green! As featured in the Work It the Katie Skirt post (red) and in the Walking on Sunshine post (yellow)

I’m weird, I really like red and green together! I know some people think it’s too christmassy but you just have to be careful with how you wear it!

Coral&Turquoise

30th March 2012

I really love reinventing color combinations for spring! One Perfect Pair I have found myself using a lot this season, is coral (or peach) and turquoise (or seafoam)! So this post is dedicated to taking on this spring ready color combo.

The best way to master this color combination is to pair it with gold, tan and champaign neutrals to allow these colors to really pop.
You don’t need big colorful pieces to make this combination work, invest in something small like the kate spade coral gumdrops (I basically live in mine) or some turquoise jewelry!
Pearls, another good investment piece and wardrobe workhorse, also pair perfectly with this color combination!
Top: Coral Crop Top, XXI. Skirt: Conscious Collection Skirt, H&M (Spring ’11). Shoes: Shoes: Medgorje Pumps, John Fluevog. Pearl Bracelet: Vintage. Ring: All Wrapped Up Bow, Kate Spade. Earrings: Gum Drops in Flo Coral, Kate Spade. Clutch: Recital Farrah Piano Clutch, Kate Spade.

I’m Lovin’ It

20th March 2012

Ba Dah Bah Bah Bah
Okay I’m weird. I love to wear red and yellow together, and then people say I look like McDonalds…. Oh well, I’m lovin’ it.

Top: Polka Dot Bow Blouse, H&M. Skirt: White Tulip, Zara. Blazer: Donna Karen, Vintage (Similar here or here). Bag: Pan Am for Marc Jacobs, Vintage. Shoes: Vince Camuto, Spring 2011 (2012 version). Sunglasses: Sweethearts, Fred Flare. Lipstick: Dragon Girl NARS.

Have I converted you? Would you dare to try Red and Yellow together or is it just too McDonalds for you?
