Weekend Vibes

15th September 2014

Oh how I love the weekend.
Whether my day is jammed packed with fun events (like the previous weekend was due to NYFW) or wide open, except for the occasional blog photoshoot (Sorry Paris), I always cherish my Saturday & Sundays.

This weekend was really chill. As I mentioned I was coming off New York Fashion Week, and although I ditched more events then I attended (oops) juggling my 9-5 and NYFW events was a lot to handle (I know, tough life right? #bloggerprobs). I was in a constant fog last week, barley sleeping, not knowing what day it was and feeling so out of it. I even re-wore the same outfit to work two days in a row, haha double oops!
Needless to say, I really needed the little breather this weekend to recover. I kicked off the day by spending a half hour on my hair trying (and failing) to master milkmaid braid – the style is not short hair friendly but you’ll see my best attempt in these pics – blogging from my bed (there’s a really big post coming your way Friday, here’s a hint to hold you over), and talking my monster of a todo list. Then I stepped out for brunch with Paris & my Best Friend, Sheree! Fun fact she’s a super awesome actress in the making and my bestie since High School all the way in AZ, I totally love having her in the city. We couldn’t be more opposite, but we do have a few important things in common, our fat girl tendencies, love for tween novels (divergent, hunger games, maze runner … you name it we read it), our sense of humor and our Teen Wolf obsession. After brunch, this photoshoot and getting caught in the rain, we went back to my place to catch up on our favorite awful TV show (teen wolf, duh!).
Caught in the rain mid photoshoot without an umbrella, don’t worry, I shared with Ree… That’s what besties are for (more here)
Later Ree went to work & I went back to blogging, and errr online shopping. After feasting on sour patch kids, binge watching PLL (I hope you aren’t judging me on my TV choices…. you know you love awful teen Television too!) I stayed up later than I would have liked finishing up Friday’s big post, it was a true labor of love so I hope you enjoy! Sunday was a lot of the same, glued to my computer, but I did manage to sneak out to do some damage to my bank account for fall shopping with miss Daisy (she’s back to blogging now, so swing by) check out this killer find!!!
I am loving the denim on denim trend (Paris disagrees, sorry agin P) so I took the look a step further by going on blue with distressed denim, a tied chambray and a baby blue baseball sweater. Side note about this sweater, I got it in every color and will be wearing it all season long. It’s also a little nod to a fun collab I’m working on with Baseball Babe, Krista of Covering Bases – be sure to tune in Wednesday for that! Because I didn’t want to be all blue, I added a dose of leopard with these new pointed toe pumps, I love that they have a thicker heel making them perfect for walking around in NYC!

Well that’s a wrap for this weekend, sometimes it’s best to just rewind (especially when bad TV and good friends are involved), what did you get into this weekend? I would love to hear all about it in the comments below XO

shadows && chambray

18th May 2013

today i’m taking a break from my signature over-the-top style to bring you a more simplistic side
 a chambray shirt can be your go to piece for any season, but specifically spring & summer.

 i gave mine a flirty side by paring it with a full & girlie skirt to dress up the denim, but stuck with simple sandals to keep the look classic & casual.

 ps. meet my nyc bestie channing, she is pure perfection…

15th October 2012

for today’s look, i dressed down my favorite polka dot peplum with denim…
&& no that was not a typo, i’m actually wearing jeans!
nothing pop like a polka dot peplum! this top is red hot && lots of fun, so i cooled it down && gave it a casual touch with some slouchy boyfriend jeans.
heres a tip – to keep from looking too sweet, use a little bit of leopard in your look for that extra edge! leopard print is a great neural and looks great with almost everything! i used a little bit of leopard south of my ankles for that unexpected edge.

denim && dots

10th October 2012

I apologize for all the polka dot’s lately… actually, no, i rock a lot of polka dots && do so with pride!  so no, i am not at all sorry about it!
 it’s finally beginning to feel a bit like fall, well an arizona fall, where if we’re lucky we’ll get an 80 degree october day (please, please, please). so I wanted to get into the swing of fall fashion while beating the heat, and this dots && denim outfit let me do it!
by wearing a black boyfriend tuxedo vest over a denim shirt, i got a taste of fall layering without breaking a sweat. also, pairing these two menswear tops, one casual (denim) && one dressy (vest) gave the look an interesting contrast especially when paired with a girly skirt && whimsical accessories. the unexpected leopard print belt, bold pearls && dot over-dose were the outfit’s final finishing touches.
i’m loving the doubling up on dots look lately, especially with my newest handbag purchase, it matches perfectly with my favorite polka dot heels! my new wire wrap rings && earrings are also making their blogs debut: look for the “xo” && the ampersand!

Little Miss Mouse

9th August 2012

Hey minnie, may I steal your style?!

Today’s outfit was formed by equal parts fantasy & flattery with a smidge of envy & a dash of bitterness. A few weeks ago my fabulous friend Katrina (her blog is fab too) hosted an equally fabulous soirée for her incredibly fabulous minnie mouse-obsessed little lady: Estelle! Since I love minnie just as much as little miss Estelle (let’s face it Stella, I probably love her more…) I was beyond bummed when I missed out on this perfect party! I would have loved to celebrate Stell’s 3rd & had an on themed outfit planned out for the occasion!
To make it up to myself, I dared to dress up as a miss minnie while visiting the Walt Disney Family Museum!
By the way, check out my new leather jacket! A birthday present from the boyfriend…  Sleek lines, gold zippers & a girlie vibe… I’m smitten! Thank you, thank you, Paris! I’m beyond obsessed with it!
Sleevless peplums are all the rage, but some of us aren’t too keen on showing off the shoulders (& arms). If you fall into this category, fear not! A short sleeve top layered under your peplum, is a quick bicept baring fix to put the pep back in your peplum!
This post also marks the blogger debut of my new kate spade broom street denim! As you may have noticed, I am not much of a denim-wearer (they never fit right & are always too casual), but I have fallen in la-la-LOVE with my ksny black denim! They fit like a dream & have details to die for like pink stitching & a gold spade accent!
