Holiday season is around the corner (okay, who are we kidding, holiday season is here!) and this swanky season is full of fabulous parties! So today I’m sharing my simple yet sparkly recipe for the perfect holiday look: lbd + red lip + sparkle = party perfection
i found this lipstick print on a wall in my neighborhood and I had to snap a pic! I’m wondering if it was meant to be cheeky art or just evidence of the most fabulous mugging ever!
a little black dress is the perfect way to play it safe while still looking chic for any event, but adding the statement red lip and a little bit of glitter help elevate this classic look by giving it a sparkling twist! Try pulling your hair back while going light on the accessorizing, it will really let the lips & the shoes shine! If minimal accessorizing isn’t an option for you (I don’t really do minimal, understated is overrated!) stick to the color-scheme by pairing a black belt & bag with metallic jewels.
Don’t compromise on comfort! Cozy up with a contrasting coat to keep you warm on your way to your sparkling soirée.
Before you go, I wanted to share a story about this dress. It’s a vintage party dress straight out of the sixties, it’s fitted, flared and fits like a dream. I found it at my favorite vintage store in San Francisco (I also love this one), it was a wee bit pricey, but also in mint condition and felt like it was made for me … so I just had to take it home! The owner of the store is also the most fascinating man, he even scoured the country and curated all the men’s accessorizes for the recent Great Gatsby remake! If you’re ever in San Francisco you’ll have to shop the vintage boutiques at in Haight Ashbury and be sure to pop by Mystery Mister!
sunday morning’s should be spent hunting for vintage books at a street fair in soho, and sunday afternoon’s are for enjoying lobster grilled cheese on a stoop with your frenchie.
vintage books have become my newest obsession, so when I heard one of my favorite city thrift shops was hosting a street book fair in soho, I couldn’t resist! I mean who can say no to coffee table books for $1!
i was lucky enough to share my day with my favorite blonde bombshell, miss channing pickett (see how we celebrated her birthday here) and a little french man waffles. oh, and did i mention we found a lobster food truck, and said yes to lobster grilled cheese?
i’m not too fond of tomatoes to snack on but have no problem looking to this vibrate veggie (it’s technically a fruit, but i can’t quite commit to calling it one) for outfit inspiration!
tomato red is a bold color choice, but pairing it with a contrasting color opposite of red on the color-wheel can give it an extra pop! and finishing with black & white takes the look to another level.
:: love my ampersand ring? get the look via etsy :: this summer, skip the shorts and try a full skirt instead! it will keep you cool, but add an element of sophistication to your summer style! if you don’t happen to have one, try converting a skirt!

i finally have my blog back && i’m celebrating with a few of my favorite things: spots, sparkles && my main man waffles.
by now you all know that i’m a wee bit polka dot obsessed, so i couldn’t pass up an opportunity to pair spots with some sparkle by featuring my newest j.crew purchase!
can you ever have too many polka dots? i really don’t think so! but when daring to dip yourself in so many polka dots, try to stick tame it down by sticking to a basic color pallet (like my black && cremé). to keep it from feeling to muted, i added a red lip && bow belt for a pop of color!
believe it or not waffles doesn’t own a polka dot sweater (gasp) … well not yet! so he paired his black && white french themed collar with his classic b&w sweater (a gift from momma deuce! thanks lady we love you). while i kept the polka dot theme going with my domino ring && chunky pearls.
&&waffles is wearing a black && white contrast sweater
As some of your may know, my blog was recently stolen (hence my unplanned absence) but after a fight I was able to gain it back! Many of you reached out to me and were so kind && supportive of my situation, so I wanted to take a chance to express my gratitude!
casual courtney must have been listening to the song “grey or blue” by jaymay while getting ready this morning && it served as the subconscious inspiration for today’s outfit.
“your eyes are either grey or blue, i’m never close enough to say”
dress down an otherwise dressy pencil skirt by pairing it with riding boots && a boyfriend sweater. finish with tights, to keep from looking skimpy && a statement necklace to draw the attention up to your face while evening out your proportions!
for this look, all you need is faith, trust and a little pixie dust… oh, and a sprinkle of kate spade whimsy && a dash of j.crew amazing-ness doesn’t hurt either.
i was feeling a little bit magical today! so i channeled my child-side for a tinker bell inspired look!
i tried to do j.crew justice by pairing my sequin shirt from a few holiday seasons ago (luckily they redo similar versions every year) with my crew cuts (embarrassing, i know) layered tulle skirt && pops of sea foam!
&& as always, piled on the accessories that included girlie pearls and bits of bling to bring a slight twinkle.
Today’s look is a bold & spicy take on a summer look
I’m in la la love with my zebra peplum top, it pairs perfectly with pencil skirts and ciggy pants, but today I switched it up by pairing it with bright colors & summery pieces.
peplums are so on trend now & can be a great way to fake a tiny waist! pair your peplum with a skinny belt and something hip hugging like a pencil skirt or high waisted shorts. To pump this peplum up for summer, I added a flower pin to keep it fun and flirty.
by the way, did you notice what’s new and hanging on my hip? it’s a teeny tiny vintage moschino… yes moschino bag! A fabulous find that I picked up this weekend and I’m ob-sessed.
Today’s look is another neon one, but this time I paired it with black for a bee inspired bright look.
Once again, were paying neons with neutrals to keep it from going bad eighties.
The look itself is quite simple, with only two colors and three pieces, but the jewelry and fun clutch helps quick it up a notch.
