14th May 2012

I’m Back!
Since graduation is just two finals and one presentation away (thank the lord) I am back to blogging on a almost daily basis, yay! To make up for my absence, I’m dedicating this post to making 5, yes five looks out of just 1 dress! here we go!

Bold, bright chunky accessories and a big novelty tote add a functional touch of whimsy to an explorers ensemble.
Layering a denim jacket and big brown belt over the red striped tube dress makes the look casual, yet versatile, perfect for those rapid weather-changing city days.

Pairing red socks with oxford wedges serve as the final touch for this fashionably adventurous outfit.

Next Up: Life of the party!
This celebratory look two of our 1 dress 5 ways!
Look two is for the bold party goer, who’s not afraid to stand out!
Some nights you’re a hopeless hostess, other nights you’re the bell of the ball. But no matter what the occasion, you style is always something worth celebrating! You’re bright, bold and you love to make an entrance. Somebody, cue the confetti, because the life of the party has finally arrived!
Colorblocking in big for spring, but you don’t have to invest in new pieces to get the look, just belt a solid dress, pair a bright solid top with a plain neutral skirt or layer a tank under a tube dress like me!
You can keep the colorblocking simple, but as the life of the party I stood out by completely committing to primary colors with the blue tights and green shoes. You can easily tone this look down and take it day by removing the tights, replacing the green pumps with a neutral wedge or platform sandal and swapping the blue bow belt for a brown or tan belt that compliments the shoes.
Dress: Zara ’11 (similar).Yellow Tank. Pumps: Green Karolina, Kate Spade. Belt: Target. Bag: Green, Vintage (similar). Tights: Blue, Target. Glasses: Fred Flare. Jewels: Kate Spade All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Forever 21 Heart Ring, Vintage Gold Link Bracelet (similar), Kate Spade Idiom Bangles, Vintage Gold Chain Necklace, Black Kate Spade Gum Drops.
Look 3 of 5: It’s time for you to shine at any perfect date night or night out on the town!
This look is for that enchanting evening out!
What’s on the agenda for tonight? Maybe Dinner and a Movie with Mr. Right? Karaoke with the girls? Planning on dazzling on the dance floor? No matter where you end up, you will be the shinning star of any evening!
I paired a flesh toned sequin top under our go to dress for a nude illusion with bits of sparkle to help make the dress, dressy!
As always, I piled on the glitz and added pops of black with a bow belt, tights and necklace! And check out the heel on my pumps, glitter! I love my lace tights, they walk the line between classy and fun, everyone should invest in a pair.
Dress: Zara ’11 (similar). Top: Sequin, J.Crew (no longer available, similar here or here) Pumps: Black Gross-grain Karolina, Kate Spade. Belt: All Wrapped Up, Kate Spade (nla, similar). Bag: Harrison Elena, Kate Spade. Tights: Black Lace, Steve Madden (similar). Welcome back for another one dress, five ways look!
This ones for that driven gal who works hard for her money
Now I channel corporate courtney, for an interview worthy look
It’s not all fun and games for this girl on the go, although she knows who to celebrate when the time is right, she also works hard, so she can play hard.
This looks is all about layering: by pairing our red dress over a polka dot blouse to make this tube summer dress office appropriate! I kept the layering going with a chunky pearl necklace and girlie pearly jewels!
Corporate Courtney also has to carry the weight of the world in her tech-friendly hand bag (which is actually a baby bag).
Dress: Zara ’11 (similar). Top: Polka Dot Bow Blouse, H&M. Pumps: Green Karolina, Kate Spade. Bag: Patent Baby Bag, Liz Lange. Tights: Basic Black. Jewels: Kate Spade All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Vintage Pearl Bracelets, DIY Pearl Necklace, Black Kate Spade Gum Drops.
I hope this trip to the office wasn’t too much of a bore. Call in sick tomorrow, but not before you check out the 4th and final look!

This one is for those busy bee, “do-it-yourself” gals (me included) who just can’t seem to sit still!
You’re A Master Multitasker. Your day starts early with meeting a old friend of a cup of joe and is go go go from there on out, filled with errands galore: walk the dog, pickup a gift for mom just because, mid-day meeting. From uptown to downtown, this girl on the go shouts “you-whoo taxi” all day long, but still manages to squeeze in the things that matter: like a 3pm mani/pedi with the girls.
To alter the silhouette of this dress, I layered a comfy sweater over it and tied it in a knot. I made it “girlie” with pearly accessories, a big red flower and contrasting patterned flats! And of course, every girl on the go needs a scout satchel to travel with!
Dress: Zara ’11 (similar). Top: Seafoam Sweater, Urban Outfitters. Shoes: Polka Dot Flats, Vintage (similar). Bag: Gold Scout, Kate Spade. Glasses: Top Shop (similar herehere or here). Jewels: Kenneth Jay Lane Bracelet, Kate Spade All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Vintage Pearl Bracelets, Kate Spade Idiom Bangle, Red Vintage Earrings, Scrabble Ring.

Well thats a wrap! We did it! 1 Look 5 Ways! Before I let you go, lets take a look back at our five looks!

1 look, 3 ways.

27th April 2012

Today we are putting your wardrobe to work by creating 3 different looks at out 1 core outfit!
with school, work, internships and presentations I have been a busy busy bee lately! On monday (when I wore this look) I started my day working at kate spade, then rushed to school for a presentation and ended with my night classes. I didn’t have time to change between these events, so I had to transform the outfit I wearing! Today, I will teach you how to do the same so you can take your look from work to weekend and back again.
Before we get started, take a look at the key pieces I used in all three looks…

Top: Cropped Top, Forever. Skirt: Handmade (similar). Ring: All Wrapped Up Bow Ring, Kate Spade (in stores). Glasses: Tom Ford*. Belt: All Wrapped Up Bow Belt in Black, kate spade (no longer available) (similar). Earrings: Gumdrop studs in aqua, kate spade.
now that we know what we’re working with, lets see the three “Courtney’s” I became throughout the day, starting with look one.
Look 1: Cute Courtney

First up was the flirty girlie look I started my day in: my Kate Spade work attire.
since I work at Kate Spade, are work attire is fun and bubbly with a little bit of whimsy. Spades also encourage statement jewelry and colorful touches. This wouldn’t be appropriate for a normal corporate job, but you could wear this for a shopping day, lunch with the girls or a day date!
(please disregard the gauze and bandages! I am not yet skilled at becoming culinary courtney and had a run in with my kitchen that left me burned! eek)
Bangles: idiom bangles, Kate Spade. Bracelets: Vintage Sparkle Bracelet, Vintage Gold Chain bracelet (similar, on sale). Necklace: All Eyes On You, kenneth jay lane (I loved it so much I bought it in black too). Necklace: Gold Chains, Max & Chloe. Shoes: Vintage Polka Dot Flats (similar).
Look 2: Corporate Courtney
After work, I ran straight to my MBA program, where I had to do a presentation. For any school presentations I always dress “business casual” because when you look your best, you present your best!
everyone should invest in what I call a casual/corporate jacket that can easily go work or weekend. Putting it on easily dressed up this look! Mine reminds me of Jackie O! I also turned my high back cropped top around for a higher neck line.
Bracelets: Vintage Sparkle Bracelet, Vintage Gold Chain bracelet (similar, on sale), Vintage Pearl Bracelets (similar). Necklace: All Eyes On You, kenneth jay lane (I loved it so much I bought it in black too). Shoes: White Mary Janes, Jessica Simpson. Jacket: “Jackie O”Jacket, Vintage.
Look 3: Casual Courtney
After my 2pm presentation, I spent the rest of the day in classes, so I wanted to be a little more casual and comfortable, especially for my walk home!
I think the key to being casual and comfortable but still cute is to dress up your casual pieces like a denim jacket with unexpected accessories, like a bold broach and statement necklaces! Also I like to pair my super cute tennies with skirts and bold prints instead of basic denim.
Bangles: kate spade idiom bangles, diy decoupage bangles. Bracelets: Vintage Sparkle Bracelet, Vintage Gold Chain bracelet (similar, on sale) Vintage Pearl Bracelets (similar). Necklace: Double Exposure Necklace, Kate Spade (now on sale). Broach: Music Note, Vintage. Denim Jacket: Jean Jacket, H&M. Necklace: Gold Chains, Max & Chloe. Shoes: Tretorn Tennies, Kate Spade (NLA in black, similar in peach and blue

Walking On Sunshine

18th April 2012

Nothing brightens up a day like yellow and white stripes!
So today, I dressed down my sunshine skirt for a beautifully bold look, check it out…

dare to be chic daily, even on your most casual days, with bright patterns and unexpected accessories
Adding a flower pin on a jean jacket takes it from denim and dull to fun and flirty.
Understated is Overrated, so pile on bangles for a chunky casual look
Pair a patterned long sleeve under a basic white button up to make a look interesting while staying warm
Have fun with fashion with a bold statement bag!
When in doubt, make a statement with a a fun necklace. Layer it over your collar for some added oomph.
Although this skirt can easily be dressed up, a few wardrobe basics like ridding boots and a denim jacket can help dress it down.
the layering and bangles also help in keeping in casual
and don’t forget to smile… you’re never fully dressed without one!
