mod about you

21st January 2013

with valentines day just around the corner, some of my next few posts will be v-day worthy to help you get ideas for what to wear on the most romantic day of the year! first up, fall modly in love with hot pink!

i’m beyond obsessed with my new pink dress, it makes me feel so girlie & pretty but in a modern way! today i took it for a sixties spin with a think belt, chunky heels and big round glasses.
looking thin i s a cinch! the thicker the belt, the slimmer your waist looks! just make sure it either starts or ends at your smallest point and try to use a contrasting color (like a black belt against white) to really trim your waist.
i purposely paired my open toe heels with black tights to keep it mod. some think doing so is a no-no, but i think it adds to the theme, and don’t mind mixing open toes with tights when it clearly makes a statement !

Hats Off

25th May 2012

let us reminisce…
In the past two years, I have had two graduations where Kate Spade dresses were important parts of these big days. So for this post, we are traveling back to next spring, when I wore my first ever kate spade dress to my Kentucky Derby graduation party.
Last year I graduated with my BS in Business Marketing and Tourism and a certificate in International Business from Arizona State University
That following Saturday, my Kate Spade fleur dress made its debut
Dress: Fleur, Kate Spade (no longer available), Gloves: DIY white bow gloves, shoes: Christian Louboutin, Bangle: the grass is always greener, Kate Spade (nla), Earrings: Coach, Necklace: Vintage from my grandmother.
Of course, hats were required.
Even the fashionista in training, little miss Estelle (of tuesday’s kids) dressed to impress.

The day was filled with good food, great friends and celebratory croquette
Despite my bias (which is fueled by my kate spade obsession) I highly recommend investing in a kate spade dress. They are truly special pieces that will enhance your wardrobe.
keep the party going

Rain or Shine

25th April 2012

These next two looks will help you create a weather proof look for either rain or shine!
this posts will show how to convert one item (the kate spade wynne dress) for any element mother nature chooses to throw at you! Tomorrow we will walk on sunshine, but today we’re singing in the rain with our wet weather look!
So lets get started by taking a look at how I used these pieces to weather the storm…

This dress is a great spring look, but I toned it down and darkened it up with bits of black
I paired black tights with ridding boots to keep my from slipping in a puddle
The black belt and necklace kept the color scheme going, while a black headband helped keep my hair in control despite the weather.
A pink contrast cardie plays off the colors in the dress while dressing down the overall look
I always layer on the bracelets, even with long sleeves by wearing them over the fabric.
I finished the look by pulling on a big black trench to stay dry!
I even added a vintage music note broach to my jacket for a bit of bling!
Cardigan: Contrast pink cardie, H&M (spring 2012). Bag: Baby Bag, Liz Lang (old). Black Bow Headband. Dress: Floral Wynne Dress, Kate Spade (No Longer Available). Welcome back to rain or shine, weather worthy looks!
now let’s take that same look into a brighter place!
With a few basic pieces and fun touches, we’ll take this look from rain to shine. Take a peak at how it turned out…
once again I am putting the floral wynne dress to work for this sun worthy outfit
I paired it with cute and simple touches, starting with nude flats and one of my favorite vintage green clutches!
as you may have noticed, I am obsessed with new jean jacket!
I dressed up my jacket with chunky pearls and a big curly girlie pony!
I also piled on the bracelets (what else is new), I think it helped keep it more casual and fun!
A leopard belt also dressed down my look, I am really into pattern mixing and love that it adds another element of fun and a bit of edge to my otherwise flirty girlie look.
