Pink Panache

31st July 2012

Panache: (Noun) person’s flamboyant spirit
It’s back… this outfit features one of my favorite tops once again, the fabulous kate spade francoise top from the 2012 ksny spring collection.

I always end up feeling too casual when I am just wearing something simple and sleeveless, but this sparkly number brings the bling to an otherwise borderline boring silhouette.

Because I am so crazy for color, I try to stay away from all black outfits year around, especially in the summer where I try to celebrate the weather with bare legs and bright hues. Nevertheless, I broke my own rules today (and really, isn’t that what fashion is all about?) by being bold in all black!
Despite my disobedience, I kept it colorful with my current color crush: bright pink.
if you like this look, hype it!

top: kate spade // skirt: boutique’d (@ modcloth) // shoes: j.crew // handbag: kate spade // glasses: tomford // earrings: vintage // rings: kate spade // diy domino ring // arm party: forever 21 // j.crew // juicy couture // kate spade

as always, I would love to hear your feedback? was I successful in my attempt to take this top from spring to summer without fail? what about all the black? how did I do in making this dark & daring outfit summer appropriate?

Neon Nonsense

6th July 2012

As you may have noticed, neon’s were a crazy big trend for spring!
I have to admit, I was not on board at first. It was so cold and dark here in San Francisco for so long, that neon’s seamed too bright.. even for me! But now that it’s warmed up, I too have warmed to this eye popping color trend.
For spring, we saw bright neon dresses & skirts, and enhanced looks with florescence accessories. So for this look I decided to dabble with these highlighter hues.
So the key to wearing neon is to think “anti-eighties” this will keep away from looking cheap & help you strive towards looking chic! Think back, in the 80’s neon came in obnoxious fabrics and was often paired with other bright colors, crazy silhouettes and over-the-top accessories. You can avoid repeating these historic fashion distress this by pairing your neon with neutrals: try all whites with color pop accessories for summer, or blacks and denim for fall.

Union Square Sparkle

26th June 2012

Surprise, surprise… another sparkly outfit! But this one has a twist… I’m strutting through union square wearing (drum roll please) … pants! It’s a rare sight to see so take a peak!

To make this layering look work, I used a necklace as an illusion! This sparkly shirt is my favorite layering piece (hence why I am always wearing it) but it has a boat neck (boo), making it difficult to layer under! So I just pile on the necklaces to cover the gap between the boat neck and the button up!
Top: Foxcroft turquoise button up. Shirt: J.crew sparkle top. Thrifted white belt. Jewels: Statement Pearls, J.crew Pave Link bracelet, Kate Spade Idiom bangles, Kate Spade lady marmalade bracelet, Kate spade all wrapped up bow ring, Kate Spade gum drop studs. Glasses: Tom Ford. Shoes: John Fluevog Pumps. Bag: Kate Spade new bond street florence.

Sophisticated Sparkle

13th June 2012

Glitter, glitz and glam can be any girl’s best friend, but it’s all about how you wear it!
It’s no secret that I am a bit of the top, I eat sleep and breathe bold colors and in your face outfits. But not everyone enjoys being as obnoxious with their outfits as I do, so here’s a way to a sparkly style in a sophisticated way.

As you know by now, I am all about the layering. To take a sweater or shirt from basic to bold, I pair it with a button up blouse. And to make a statement I layered on the necklaces!
Do any of these pieces look familiar? It’s because I wear them all the time! This outfit contains a few key investment pieces that could be worn a million ways: white skirt (a la zara), a black bow belt (kate spade) and a white button up. If you are color crazy like me, a bright bag and bold pumps may also make your investment list!
Over all, I like this outfit because it’s classy enough to make a good impression but still classic Courtney with bold pops of color and a little bit of glitz. I guess the moral of this outfit is you don’t have to sacrifice your personal style to “look the part”, you just have to intertwine the two.

Shirt: basic button-up, J.crew. Top: Sparkle Top, J.Crew (similar). Skirt: Tulip, Zara (similar). Belt: Gathered Bow Belt, Kate Spade. Shoes: Medugorje Pumps, John Fluevog. Purse: New Bond Street Florence Handbag, Kate Spade. Jewels: Kate Spade All Wrapped Up Ring, Kate Spade Gum Drop Studs, All Eyes On You Kenneth Jay Lane Necklace, Statement Pearl Necklace.

Pink&Green

3rd March 2012

If kelly I mean Courtney Green is my favorite color, Courtney Green mixed with punches of pink is one of my favorite combos! The key to pulling this pop-art-pair off is to keep the look under control with basic blacks. But dont be too boring, a little pop of b&w pattern can be your finishing touch!
Have you met Florence? Let me introduce you… She’s the newest addition to my handbag family! I will be playing favorites for the next few weeks so you two can get further acquainted, I hope my other pretty purses don’t turn green with envy!
