think pink

10th January 2014

so we may be a 10 days or so into the new year, but things are still merry & bright in the west village … and I’m not complaining!

Fur: Michael Kors (similar) // Coat: Kate Spade (similar here or shop below)
Skirt: Modcloth (similar) // Turtleneck: J.crew (Similar) // Belt: Saks via My Sisters Closet // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Boots: Kate Spade (similar) // Bag: Coach // Beret: Bonnie Beret, Vintage // Lip: Mac, Ruby Woo // Jewels: J.crew // J.crew Outlet (old) // Target
I fell in love with this pink coat a few years back while living in San Francisco, and have been wearing it ever since. I love the bright color, bow detail and inside floral lining … it basically screams Courtney. The coat was such a hit that Kate remade a similar version this fall, it’s since gone on sale but there are still a few floating around, shop here.

As decor the christmas decor, I assume the last of it will come down this weekend … but it was fun while it lasted and marks the end of the most wonderful time of the year, and the beginning of a new year!

pink && polka

28th March 2013

today’s look pairs pink with polka dots as i step out in spots.

for a day off full of running errands && getting settled into my new apartment i looked to the art of the dot for inspiration. with polka dot sneakers, dotted denim and a pop of color i can feel cute while still being casual.
if you have a cropped or “bracelet length” coat, try layering a patterned long sleeve underneath for an unexpected pattern pop.

think pink

13th November 2012

between being pretty in pale pink or fabulous in fun fuschia, there are so many ways to think pink && we are thinking neon, neon, neon!

pink is not just for wednesday’s anymore (sorry mean girls reference), anyway can be an opportunity to think pink, especially in trendy neon! with these bright cigarette pants && a slouchy matching sweater, i was able to make a fall worthy neon look that is bold, bright && beautiful while keeping it comfy && casual.
my matching bubble necklace helped complete this monochromatic look, while the bright blue shoes && spotted bag helped compliment my hot hues!

1st October 2012

i’ve found my soul mate…
i am now completely smitten with my new sparkly loafers so much so they inspired me to dance my way into todays ballet inspired outfit.

never underestimate a baby pink — it is always fun to be bold && bring with a neon or shocking pink, but sometimes a pale ballerina pink can still make an outfit statement!
short girls, here’s a tip — use your hair for height! whenever i wear flats, i like to wear my hair in a high top knot for an extra few inches. in this case, the bun also works with the ballerina theme.

Shocking Pink

16th August 2012

Make jaws drop, when you strut your stuff in shocking pink!

Today we’re thinking pink by pairing the happy hue with neutrals to make it pop, lets take a peek…

I love to wear pink, it makes me feel pretty & girlie! But pale pink can be so predictable, so it’s nice to add some edge by trying on a shocking pink color!
I love to wear pink, it makes me feel pretty & girlie! But pale pink can be so predictable, so it’s nice to add some edge by trying on a shocking pink color!
To make this color even more shocking, try pairing it with blush, creme or champaign (as shown). I choose to go for a mostly monochromatic look with pops of pink for a harsh contrast! The color combo even carried over to my tights with nude fishnets. Nude fishnets that can be a great transitional tight, for when the weather is still too warm for traditional tights.

Pink Panache

31st July 2012

Panache: (Noun) person’s flamboyant spirit
It’s back… this outfit features one of my favorite tops once again, the fabulous kate spade francoise top from the 2012 ksny spring collection.

I always end up feeling too casual when I am just wearing something simple and sleeveless, but this sparkly number brings the bling to an otherwise borderline boring silhouette.

Because I am so crazy for color, I try to stay away from all black outfits year around, especially in the summer where I try to celebrate the weather with bare legs and bright hues. Nevertheless, I broke my own rules today (and really, isn’t that what fashion is all about?) by being bold in all black!
Despite my disobedience, I kept it colorful with my current color crush: bright pink.
if you like this look, hype it!

top: kate spade // skirt: boutique’d (@ modcloth) // shoes: j.crew // handbag: kate spade // glasses: tomford // earrings: vintage // rings: kate spade // diy domino ring // arm party: forever 21 // j.crew // juicy couture // kate spade

as always, I would love to hear your feedback? was I successful in my attempt to take this top from spring to summer without fail? what about all the black? how did I do in making this dark & daring outfit summer appropriate?

Pink Friday

13th July 2012

So my secret is out! I am completely smitten, simply head over heels in la-la-love with neon pink!

This happening hue will be spotted everywhere for seasons to come working it on the runway or brightening up a beautiful face.
So yes, neons are back and brighter than ever, but that does not mean we should repeat some of the blindingly bad fashion choices we saw in the eighties, oh yikes. Neon spandex, crazy too-bright eye shadows and & over-the-top neon-nonsess are all still big no-nos! To prevent falling into these florescence faux paws, introduce your neons to your neutrals; these compatible hues will live happily ever after.

Pink Sparkle

21st April 2012

What girl doesn’t love lipstick pink ? especially when enhanced with a dash of sparkle? ooh la la.
I used these pieces to create a look combines the best of both worlds: girlie and edgy … flirty and glam.

One again, I am wearing one of my favorite Kate Spade peices: the Francoise Top!
I’m actually wearing this top underneath today, I’m just using it for the collar!
I paired my sparkly top with two pops of shocking pink for a big wow factor
This dress is actually one of my favorites, its a few years old from Zara but they always recreate it in fun colors.
Both of these pieces (the top and the dress) are super transformational, I always try to look for these kind of pieces when I’m shopping because they can make a super versatile wardrobe workhorse.
To take the look to yet another level, I added a pop of color: turquoise pumps.
And every outfit could use a little bit of leopard, a calf hair skinny belt makes the perfect little pop of wildness.
I always finish a look out with a little bit of Kate Spade jewels: Big bangles, a bow ring and gum drop studs are my jewelry basics.
Dress: Zara (2010) (same shape). Jacket: Trench, H&M. Tights: Polka Dots, ModCloth. Belt: Skinny Leopard Calf Hair, Express. Top: Francoise Sparkly Collar Top (worn under), Kate Spade. Bag: New Bond Street Florence in Shocking Pink (On Sale!). Earrings: Gum Drop Studs in Black. Idiom Bangles, Kate Spade. Shoes: Medugorje pumps, John Fluevog.
