i finally have my blog back && i’m celebrating with a few of my favorite things: spots, sparkles && my main man waffles.
by now you all know that i’m a wee bit polka dot obsessed, so i couldn’t pass up an opportunity to pair spots with some sparkle by featuring my newest j.crew purchase!
can you ever have too many polka dots? i really don’t think so! but when daring to dip yourself in so many polka dots, try to stick tame it down by sticking to a basic color pallet (like my black && cremé). to keep it from feeling to muted, i added a red lip && bow belt for a pop of color!
believe it or not waffles doesn’t own a polka dot sweater (gasp) … well not yet! so he paired his black && white french themed collar with his classic b&w sweater (a gift from momma deuce! thanks lady we love you). while i kept the polka dot theme going with my domino ring && chunky pearls.
&&waffles is wearing a black && white contrast sweater
As some of your may know, my blog was recently stolen (hence my unplanned absence) but after a fight I was able to gain it back! Many of you reached out to me and were so kind && supportive of my situation, so I wanted to take a chance to express my gratitude!

for today’s post i’m showcasing my ysl tee with some spotted style && a pop of baby pink
a designer tee can be a more affordable way to feel lavish in labels, plus it is a little bit more wearable for real life. this ysl tee is comfy && casual, while still looking polished. i paired it with my favorite new baby pink jeans && a tuxedo blazer for something a bit unexpected, && used a pop of polka dots for that dash of whimsy that all outfits need.
for today’s look, i dressed down my favorite polka dot peplum with denim…
&& no that was not a typo, i’m actually wearing jeans!
nothing pop like a polka dot peplum! this top is red hot && lots of fun, so i cooled it down && gave it a casual touch with some slouchy boyfriend jeans.
heres a tip – to keep from looking too sweet, use a little bit of leopard in your look for that extra edge! leopard print is a great neural and looks great with almost everything! i used a little bit of leopard south of my ankles for that unexpected edge.
I apologize for all the polka dot’s lately… actually, no, i rock a lot of polka dots && do so with pride! so no, i am not at all sorry about it!
it’s finally beginning to feel a bit like fall, well an arizona fall, where if we’re lucky we’ll get an 80 degree october day (please, please, please). so I wanted to get into the swing of fall fashion while beating the heat, and this dots && denim outfit let me do it!
by wearing a black boyfriend tuxedo vest over a denim shirt, i got a taste of fall layering without breaking a sweat. also, pairing these two menswear tops, one casual (denim) && one dressy (vest) gave the look an interesting contrast especially when paired with a girly skirt && whimsical accessories. the unexpected leopard print belt, bold pearls && dot over-dose were the outfit’s final finishing touches.
i’m loving the doubling up on dots look lately, especially with my newest handbag purchase, it matches perfectly with my favorite polka dot heels! my new wire wrap rings && earrings are also making their blogs debut: look for the “xo” && the ampersand!
today’s pots is dedicated to one of my favorite new pieces
i recently stumbled upon the fabulous blog ktr style, and her fantastic collection for sale, where i fell in love with the most amazing skirt! check her out!
at only $56, the construction is superb, the design is perfection && the dots are to die for!
this skirt is a mini && hits above the knee but flairs out into a fun bubble shape! it’s high waisted, so you can tuck a top in or wear something over the top! to get you inspired, here are some ways to wear it…
today, i’m stepping out in spots … on spots on spots on spots
&& my great gatsby book clutch is making its color me courtney debut!
its no secret that i’m a sucker for spots, so this post is just another way to go dizzy with a double, no triple dose of dots!
spots are big for fall, so don’t be afraid to make a statement by connecting the dots into a spotted little number. feel free to mix your spotted styles, but stick to a color pallet (i choose black&&white) to keep from over-doing it. but then pump up your polka with a color pop or fun accessories!
please excuse my lack of looks in today’s post, but I wanted to share some of my favorite ksny campaign videos! also I am hard at work for a big big big post coming your way next week with lots of outfits options! until then, check out this fantastic fall little number, here’s the latest… i love the dots! I actually have polka dot nails as we speak…
i also love this one from kate’s rocking spring collection… musical chairs: ready, go! since holiday season is right around the corner (believe it or not, it is!) let’s celebrate with this next video…give colorfully. have you noticed the red flowers i am always pinning on outfits, check out how others used these poppy poppies when ksny gave them out during their understated is overrated campaign last fall… this one’s an oldie but a goodie, give this one a whirl and finally, one of my favorite vintage-esque videos starring bryce dallas howard when she was the face of kate spade last year.
which one’s your favie? let me know! i will be back with a really big post next week… here’s a hint, think 100 outfits!
today’s post is all about the power of pattern mixing && a pop of color!
for this look i’m using a pop of poppy paired with b&w patterns to make a statement.
if you are hesitant about mixing patterns, try pairing two black && white prints together! it won’t come off as shocking as other pattern pairs && is uses something you probably already have lying around in your closet! try pairing your polka dots with stripes or even houndstooth like i did today! also use a solid piece, like i did with my black skirt, to keep from going over board!
some disagree, but i think leopard as a natural! i put my leopard skinny belt to work once again && used it to bring an unexpected twist to the outfit. i finalized with another spot of polka dots south of my ankles && brought some color to the look by doubling up on my poppy pins!
one tip for layering is to “double layer” or layer on either side of a specific piece. in my case, i choose a solid black skirt as my center piece && layered my patterned polka dot skirt under it && my cardigan over it. if you choose to double layer (under && over) choose a layering center piece that is opposite of your other garnets. for example, go for a solid to pair with two patterned pieces (like me) or use a pattered center piece to pair with two solid ones for maximum contrast without overdoing it!
since a country outfit isn’t exactly my style, I was sure to bring out my inner cowgirl with a color me courtney twist…
when I heard rawhide, I immediately thought denim. But since I am swooning over the ever-trending spots (read all about it) I had to add a dash of dots to my denim look.
if this top looks familiar, it should! it was a diy friday post a few weeks back! i thought the spotted denim would be a perfect rodeo-esque look, with a touch of whimsy. in fact, this look is filled with diy projects! i finished the look && offset the country-ness with more pops of polka dots, the power of a red flower and glam accessories.
