This summer I want to wear white and only white … all day, everyday, non-stop white!
Oh and when I say white, you know I mean white, with a whole mess of bright colors and geometric patterns, right?
Summer in the city brings out a different side of me in all elements, including my style. I don’t usually get tanner (I’m addicted to SPF and terrified of skin cancer) but my sunglasses get bigger, shorts get shorter (hopefully not too short) and my legs actually stay shaved — well most days, so of course my color palette needs a complimentary makeover and my sights are set on bright white.
When I found this skirt I instantly fell in love with all of the bright colors and bold pattern — it reminded me of a piñata, PAR-TAY! I knew I had to have the matching patterned top as well so I could double it up as a dress or wear them as separates. The top is perfect with jeans & flats, tailored white shorts and sandals or tucked into a bright midi while the skirt is just screaming for a solid crop top, knotted chambray button-up or simple white tee.
Since I allotted for a print on print look, I had to tone things down with my go-to shoe. I thought these powder-blue babies might be stuck on the shelf this summer (they’re suede) but after bracing the snow during Fashion Week, I thought they deserved some fun in the sun!
Oh and incase you’ve been living under a rock, the Zara sale is alive and kicking — and these Court Bow Pump are just one of the amazingly discounted must-haves.
It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Carrie Bradshaw – she will always be one of my favorite TV fashionistas (along with Blair Waldorf). Carrie changed fashion for everyone and I look to her style almost everyday for inspiration. Every time I twirl through NYC in tulle I think of CB! Today was no different, so I had to share this very, Carrie moment filled with stripes, tulle and of course, stilettos.
I think a tulle skirt is a closet must have for any stylish city gal – it’s so functional and works year around! I pair mine with booties and cashmere in the fall, tights and turtlenecks for winter and crop tops for those warmer months! Skirts with a thick waist band like this one, help your tummy look super tiny and the midi length looks great on everyone… even shorties like me :]
I’m feeling stripey today by twirling through the meatpacking district in the pattern I just cannot stop wearing (or buying) – black and white stripes!
Sooo what do you think of my new bag – lies! It’s not new, as some of you may know its’s my mom’s from the 80s – but it’s mine now and looks brand spankin’ new thanks to a little TLC – where the C strands for cleaning! Although I really liked this bag’s “well-loved” look and thought the wear and tear added to the overall appeal, it’s soooo much nicer to have a clean, flawless, feels-like-new leather bag. As someone who has worked for many a handbag company in her day (Kate Spade, Coach), I was beyond impressed with Leather Honey’s amazing leather cleaner and conditioner – it took years off my Coach Willis without damaging the leather all while maintaining the original quality. I recommend leaving the cleanser on overnight for best results, removing the excess and following up with conditioner the next morning – doing so will help give your well loved leather piece a swanky makeover!
As soon as I saw this asos stripe skirt I knew I had to have it – I felt the same way about these darling striped pointed toe flats so I knew I had to double up on B&W stripes by pairing them together! I was never a big fan of the pointed toe (my feet are too cubby) especially in a flat – but my new go-to shoe has converted me to a pointed-toe believer! I picked them up in black & white stripe on sale at Joe Fresh as well as in solid black patent because I knew I would seriously regret leaving them behind!
P.S. Check out my quirky new phone case, I’m obsessed … Banana phone! What do you think, love it or leave it? (please say love it!)
I was recently featured on fashion bomb daily – yay! There was some really nice (and some not so nice) comments but someone said what my Boyfriend, Paris has been saying for ages – “I wish she didn’t wear sunglasses in every picture”. As a blogger, I have been hiding behind my sunnies lately – it’s just easier but as a reader, I can see why it’s a bit of a turn-off. I try to be as real, honest and down-to-earth as possible on my blog because my readers are so important to me and I want to give them nothing but the best :] as a result I am going to try my best to take off the Karen Walkers every once and a while … here goes nothing! As always I appreciate your constructive criticisms and support – I would love to hear any other suggestions you may have a always try to implement them when possible!
Today every things coming up roses … well daffodils? yes, i think those are daffodils – I’m really not sure, I don’t know much about other flowers because I’m extremely loyal to peonies and sometimes dabble in gerber dasies… Anyways, every things coming up daffodils (or something) in my seemingly basic b&w look. But don’t fret, there is an element of surprise under this striped trench … so stay tuned!
Shoes: Shoe Dazzle Neutral Strappey Kalya Sandal (on sale!)
Ring: Black White Flower Forever 21 Ring (old)
I’m obsessed with this bow back crop top – as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I mean, black white and a big giant bow, plus it touches on the crop top trend? I mean come on, how could I resist! It’s just long enough to wear with a midi skirt or something high waisted, but has a fun slit in the back. I had to pair it with my favorite striped trench (also here) to add a little mystery to the look – it’s basically the most fabulous mullet ever: traditional black & white in the front and a whimsical bow in the back!
Love these images? me too – a big thanks to Pratik Doshi who shot these – nyc bloggers, if you’re ever in need of photographer, Pratik is your guy! His picture are bright & clear and he’s SO FUN to shoot with! Pop by his Facebook page here // and instagram here
I wore this look last night, when I stepped out to BucketFeet’s pop up shop in Soho. BucketFeet is a super cool, unique show concept – all the shoes are playfully patterned and designed by different artists, each with their own unique style. Mine are designed by Miami based artist, Bad Panda, who drew inspiration from his home town to create my kicks.
I probably need to stop wearing this top … but I can’t! Are you guys sick of it yet? It’s one of the only crop tops I own and I just can’t get enough of this trend #sorrynotsorry. Plus I never say no to black & white stripes annndd I love that it’s long sleeve so it feels a little more conservative (well as conservative as you can get for a crop top).
Before you go – here’s a few iPhone highlights from before & during last nights at Bucketfeet’s new pop up shop in Soho:
Paris & I had a blast in our new shoes. The pop up only lasts 90 days, so run, don’t walk to 108 wooster street to pick up a pair… or if you miss it, you can always order online :] Plus receive 10% off all bucket feet use the code COLORME10
Spring has brought out a surprisngly casual side of my style and I’ve been wearing sporty sneakers on replay all season long. After visiting the Reebok Skyscape event and bringing home a pair of my own, I have been reluctant to take them off. I’ve even resorted to wearing these and/or my nikes (last seen here) with dresses and skirts to give this sporty trend a girly twist (like I did at Waffle’s birthday party here). I need to step into some stilettos soon or I’m afraid I never will again … okay, who are we kidding, I’ll probably be wearing sky high heels tomorrow.
Have you tried trading in your stilettos for sneakers this season?
The 90’s are back, and better than ever! Crop tops, sweaters around the waist and the Backstreet Boys are all the rage (okay, maybe I made that last one up cause I want it that way). Today I’m doubling up on the 90’s trend
I’m a 90’s baby, so I am loving that it’s making a comeback! Right after halloween last year, I had the genius idea to dress up as Dionne from Clueless and am determined to make it happen this October (P.S. have you seen this music video, I’m not usually into rap but I’m obsessed). But when the 90’s trend started popping up this spring, I thought why wait! I can channel Dionne everyday!
I also stopped by the Reebok Skycape event at Chelsea Triangle to test out (and fall in love with) their awesome new shoes. They’re light weight, machine washable, super comfortable and made of foam!!! Yes… foam! Fun fact- They actually make them in the same factory that Victoria Secret makes thier comparable bras! And because their made of foam, you can go sock-less! I’m wearing the Reebok Skycape in pink fusion (shop here) and went home with a pair in coral!
Will you be trying the 90’s trend?
P.S. how beautiful is the freedom tower, I love it!
This post title was inspired by this awesome 1986 jam by Debbie Harry, it’s basically playing on repeat in my head while I write this post. I also love the lyrics plastered on this hilarious sweater by Zoe Karssen (also here). All this red, white and blue action makes me think of Zooey Deschanel and her new collection for Tommy Hilfiger – To Tommy, From Zooey. Knowing my love for Zooey and my previous role at Tommy Hilfiger, I can’t believe we have’t talked about this yet, I’ll have to do a featured post on the line soon (until then, shop here!)
These photos were taken on greenwich ave, one of my favorite drags in the West Village by my good friend, international photographer and favorite Tea date Claire Eliza. After which we promptly stuffed our faces with scones and filled our bellies with hot tea poured from a pot with the Queen’s face on it at my the most darling little tea spot, Tea and Sympathy.
So today’s post features my second go-around with the overall all (first was here). Learning that wearing them is super easy and fun, definitely a trend I would recommend trying. As I told you before, I opted for a skinny fit opposed to the boyfriend cut that most people (and bloggers) have been wearing, in order to keep myself from looking like a child. Overall (ha) the overall trend is really easy and effortless trend to try out this spring, and with some of the super cheap overall options out there at Urban Outfitters and Macy’s you can test it out without breaking the bank!
