A Carrie Moment

12th June 2014

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Carrie Bradshaw – she will always be one of my favorite TV fashionistas (along with Blair Waldorf). Carrie changed fashion for everyone and I look to her style almost everyday for inspiration. Every time I twirl through NYC in tulle I think of CB! Today was no different, so I had to share this very, Carrie moment filled with stripes, tulle and of course, stilettos.

Top: Zara Stripe Crop Top (similar here or here for under $10) (another version here)
Shoes: Dolce Vita Pamona Pump with Leopard – get 20% off use SAVE
Skirt: H&M Tulle Skirt (old) – I love this BCBG one for $88 + 25% use, FRIENDS
I am also really loving this Top Shop Tulle Midi skirt for $100
Earrings: XO Earrings Urban Outfitters (silver here) – dying for this No. 5 earring here
Necklace: Jennifer Rex Leo Necklace c/o
I think a tulle skirt is a closet must have for any stylish city gal – it’s so functional and works year around! I pair mine with booties and cashmere in the fall, tights and turtlenecks for winter and crop tops for those warmer months! Skirts with a thick waist band like this one, help your tummy look super tiny and the midi length looks great on everyone… even shorties like me :]
P.S. Did I mention that Lord & Taylor is having their friends & family sale? 25% off almost everything including this darling tulle skirt with a bow! Be sure to check it out

Weekend Twirl

6th January 2014

It’s no secret I love twirl-worthy tulle (don’t believe me, check out the highlights here), and since this season calls for tartans & flannel, I paired plaid with my favorite skirt for tulle with a twist.

Shirt: Old Navy (obsessed with this one) // Snood: Michael Kors (Old, Similar: onetwo [cashmere on sale, yes please!], and three) //  Sweater: : Forever 21 // Pumps: Coach // Bag: Vintage via the Melrose District in AZ (Love this one) // Sunnies: Karen Walker (also here) // Skirt: H&M (old, love this one) // Headband: Vintage, similar // Ring: Betsey Johnson (old, similar here) // Jewels: J.crew, Kate Spade
Confession: I’m addicted to teen TV; The Vampire Diaries, Awkward, Teen Wolf …  I don’t care how awful & cheesy it may be, you name it I watch it! So although I love December I hate saying goodbye to my embarrassing bunch of shows during the holiday hiatus. To fill the void, I end up re-watching some of my cancelled favorites all month long, and December 2013 was all about GG … resulting in a re-ignited obsession with Blair Waldorf & her signature headbands!
P.S. I love that the west village is still
dripping in holiday decor (notice the tree behind me?).
I don’t wish we kept it up all year long – then it wouldn’t be special,
but I like to keep a little bit of cheer until mid January!

Times Square Tulle

1st December 2013

Happy December! On a windy day, why not wear tea length tulle? Well there’s quiet a few reasons why not, and the number one is to avoid a mid-day Marilyn Moment.
Jacket: Nordies (love this one) // Skirt: H&M (get the look here, here or black here) // Sweater: DIY (Look for the tutorial, I’ll post it on Friday or shop here) //  Sunnies: Karen Walker (also here) // Boots: Bacio 61 (Also here) // Bag: Coach (similar) // Jewels: Kate Spade Necklace (love this chic one) // J.crew // C.wonder (Sample sale find) // pearls
I had a meeting one windy afternoon in Times Square, so I took a second to enjoy one of the town’s top tourist spots! Tulle skirts always make me feel like Carrie Bradshaw or a ballerina, but today I paired my tulle with a girlie sweatshirt (I’ll share the DIY tutorial this friday) and my go-to boots to dress it down! I dare you to dress outside the lines this month and try tulle with tights & a sweater!

tulle town

19th March 2013

after taking a few weeks off to manage my move to nyc,
i’m finally back to blogging! && today we take a twirl in tulle.

sequins && tulle can make a girl feel like a queen,
but today i took a new take on twirl && gave it a casual twist.

when pairing two statement pieces or even mixing patterns, use black (or a neutral) to break it up and keep the look for going over the top.
also try mixing your mediums! this look started out girlie, but the menswear inspired vest && casually chic boots give it some unexpected edge.
shirt: j.crew // skirt: h&m (love this one from ktr, she will be back to selling soon) // belt: kate spade // tuxedo vest: halogen (love this one) // boots: shoegasm (my new favorite) // black tights //  bag: kate spade (outlet find) // ring: kate spade // arm party: sequin // kate spade idioms  // vintage // kate spade charm bracelet // j.crew // sequin

before you go…
now you can view all my past outfits in one location:
thanks again for giving me a break during my move!
&& stay tuned: apartment && nyc pictures still to come.

tulle for two

10th December 2012

today’s post features twirl worthy tulle for two as waffles joins me in a sparkle statement look.

I pair a tiny bit of tulle with sparkly steps && basic black for girlie glam!
fun fact: my belt is my mom’s from the eighties!!! she wore it over leotards while jazzercizing! (seriously! i couldn’t make this stuff up! but let’s hope she accessorized with leg warmers && a side pony). i love raiding her old closet for past treasures! that’s probably why i’m a secret hoarder (well not so secret anymore), because i’m afraid my future child may want to wear whatever i get rid of!
This season, try layering a statement necklace over your turtle neck! It can be an easy way to slim you down while adding some unexpected sparkle! I also like to layer my arm parties over long sleeve shirts!
Oh && before you go, don’t forget the bow…
turtle neck: j.crew // skirt: h&m // belt: vintags (thanks mom) necklace: j.crew // shoes: kate spade // sunnies: miu miu // earrings: kate spade // bag: kate spade // arm party: j.crew // sequin // kate spade idioms // forever 21 // kate spade // j.crew // necklace: francescas (diy statement pearls) // key chain: j.crew

&&waffles velvet holiday bow-tie is from petsmart.

28th November 2012

for this look, all you need is faith, trust and a little pixie dust… oh, and a sprinkle of kate spade whimsy && a dash of j.crew amazing-ness doesn’t hurt either.

i was feeling a little bit magical today! so i channeled my child-side for a tinker bell inspired look!
i tried to do j.crew justice by pairing my sequin shirt from a few holiday seasons ago (luckily they redo similar versions every year) with my crew cuts (embarrassing, i know) layered tulle skirt && pops of sea foam!
&& as always, piled on the accessories that included girlie pearls and bits of bling to bring a slight twinkle.
shirt: j.crew (last seen here) // purse: kate spade // skirt: j.crew crew cuts // tights: kate spade (they sparkle!) // necklaces: diy (make your own) && francescas // shoes: kate spade (not online yet, but in stores) // belt: j.crew // rings: kate spade // wire wrap x2 (customizable && great for gifts) // vintage // sunnies: miu miu //earrings: kate spade // arm party: sequin // kate spade (similar) // sequin // kate spade idioms x9 (old-ish) // kate spade // vintage // j.crew
