Princess Party

Lets talk about stop motion!

So over the years I’ve become kind of known for my stop motion magic videos. Stop motion is essentially a series of photos strung together to make a video, sometimes I animate each photo to create the illusion of an animated video. I first started creating them because my friend Rique suggested it, while she lived in New York we worked on them together and when she moved away Paris (my fiancé) learned how to shoot them and she would still help me edit from afar. Now I do it pretty much alone (aside from the camera work) covering everything from concept to starring to editing which is fun but obviously a lot of work – but to be fair I couldn’t have gotten here without that initial help I received.      Now that we’ve made nearly 100 videos (I know right), I’m trying to figure out what to do with them next. Honestly, I’m kind of sick of editing my own face lol and want to start to create them for other reasons: like showcasing other creators.

I took my first swing at this last weekend when I rallied a few blogger friends and their counterparts to help me create my first stop motion movie starring other people! So take a look:

I’ve done disney princesses before, but I wanted to do them again so I found the perfect girl for each princess and helped them create an outfit to bring her to life. OH and incase you didn’t know, I do halloween a little differently. Instead of straight froward costumes I like to create looks from pieces in your closet that you might already own or could wear outside the holiday.

I started out the video as the fairy god mother for a few reasons. I wanted to start out in the video so people watching weren’t confused about why I wasn’t in the video, and to tie the story of cinderella together. The Fairy god mother wears a blue dress & cape with a swirly star print on it. I did a blue dress layered over a white blouse before adding a pink bow (from another top) and layering a jacket like a cape!

Cinderella – For cinderella I instantly thought of Hunter Mcgrady, a bombshell swimsuit model who I just love! Her face is darling and she looks just like a Disney princess, so this was a no brainer decision. To sweeten the deal her IRL fiancé also happens to twin with almost every disney prince. For her look we paired a brown dress with a white apron, and clear heels with a blue tulle dress. Brian wore red pants and a white button up layered with a red sash for an easy prince look.

Ariel – This was another no brainer, one of my favorite babes on the internet with redish auburn hair is Katie of the 12 ish style. She also is known for her #supersizethelook posts where se creates celebrity looks in her size along side Ryan of Exta Extra Style so again, no brainer. I’ve already done Ariel as mermaid so I wanted to show her in the kiss the girl scene where she’s wearing the blue dress. For this look a blue top and skirt combo will seal the deal, Katie took it over the top with a sequin skirt and by dressing up Cheese (her dog) as Sebastian. For Ryan’s prince Eric look he just needed jeans, a white button up, red belt and boots!

Snow White – I largely consider Keiko the queen of halloween so putting her in the video was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. She has done all the princesses in a very extreme and amazing way on her own, but I had her do a toned down Snow White while her boyfriend Bobby showed up as her prince. She actually sewed this top and paired it with a yellow skirt, red lip and red shoes but you can also get the look with a blue drop top layered under a white top. For bobby, he’s in boots, jeans, a white button up, blue vest and red cape!

Tiana – so I’ve done princesses before, but I haven’t done Tiana and at least not like this. I created her “almost there” look with a yellow dress and apron, while Paris wore a sweater vest and brown pants with a red tie and driving cap. For the “princess” look we layered a tan jacket over a mint button up and brown pants for him, while I wore a green flower crown and mint dress.
