San Junipero

Have you guys seen black mirror? Paris and I love binging it on Netflix. I’m not gonna lie, I don’t get a lot of episodes, and some really freak my out BUT my favorite three have been Nose Dive (because of the pretty pastel colors that contrast all the craziness going down, Hang the DJ (because love conquers all) and above all San Junipero. This episode is full of 80’s flashbacks, cool club scenes, obnoxious outfits and crazy color combos … oh plus the message is really good too.  Anytime I jump into a 80s-esque color mash up it gives me serious san junipero vibes. With Lilac being a pastel color, most would pair it with like minted muted tones – baby yellows, pinks & blues, all combos I did dabble in this month but I also stepped outside the box. Today’s look shares two ways to wear a hot pink dress with pastel lavender hue for a San Junipero inspired look that makes you want to take a double take.

I wore this pink dress two times last week – first on Wednesday (naturally) when I went to see mean girls on broadway with my momma! Mean girls is broadways newest hit that just got nominated for like  all the tony’s. I’m a big broadway buff, but can be really picky about what I do and don’t like. For instance, I think Book of Mormon is severely over rated: the dance scenes were messy the comedic timing sub par and it lacked plot – especially in the second half … see, ruthless. Mean Girls is one of my favorite movies that I could recite by heart, so I was hesitate to see the musical I knew it would either: a) be a mock off of the movie or b) stray from the story and fall short. Luckily, it did neither! The musical was the perfect combo of the comedy we know and love with a modernized twist. Most of your favorite scenes / lines made the cut but were brought into 2018 with updated lingo, technology and situations. The original music was magical and the characters weren’t simple copy cats of what we saw in film, but yet reimagined in a new broadway way, that still felt very new and now. Its one of the few shows out there with a predominately female cast and they kick serious but! Overall, I can’t recommend it enough. – GO SEE IT NOW!

Any who, back to the look. The next time I took this dress out for a twirl,  I wore pretty much the same outfit with a pink bag, purple purse and metallic jacket. The best part about this party dress, is it can be dressed down so well like I did for both of these looks. It also comes with a big black bow on the back so you could pair it with a black pump or even glitter shoes for a fun night out!
