Yellow,

1 Mustard Dress 10 ways

HEY!! So like let’s style 1 dress 10 ways while showing what colors work with marigold or mustard yellow! sound good?! here we go!

here are 10 outfits all made from one marigold dress + 45 other pieces wee!

SHOP all the looks:

LOOK 1: MARIGOLD MUST HAVES:

let’s start with the marigold/mustard dress that we’ll style 10 ways + mustard tights and brown/mustard oxfords

ONE: Dress (wearing size S)  || TWO: Tights (wearing S)    || THREE: Dress under $30 (I own size M)  ||
FOUR: A-Line Dress (XXS-4X)  ||  FIVE: Plus Dress (12-24)  ||  SIX: Oxford Flat

LOOK 2: MAIRGOLD X MARIGOLD

An all marigold or monochromatic mustard look can be really chic, even when you dress things down with oxford flats. This dress is just so not flattering on me – I’m 5 foot about 150 pounds, my waits is small 26 inches but my but is almost 40 & my bust is 36! So if I don’t belt it the dress looks about 36 inches wide, belting it cuts down 10 whole inches

ONE: Leather Belt (wearing SM)  ||    TWO: Headband  ||  THREE: similar  micro bag
FOUR: Plus Dress (12-24)  || FIVE: Dress (wearing size S)  ||  SIX: Oxford Flat

LOOK 3: BLACK X MARIGOLD
You know I’m not a big black wearer, but I kind of love it with mustard because it makes it POP. I took more of a “rock and roll” take on this look (well at least for me) to add a baker boy hat, printed bag, combat boots & Moto jacket. Since I’m wearing a shorter shoulder bag as a crossbody, I can get away with wearing the dress as a shift and not belting it

ONE: biker jacket (wearing size 8)  ||TWO: Combat Boot  ||  THREE: Hat  ||
FOUR: Plus biker jacket (12-26)  ||  FIVE: Tights (wearing size S)  ||  SIX: Combat Boot
SEVEN: similar crossbody bag  ||  EIGHT: yellow Cap ||  NINE: Yellow tights

LOOK 4: RED X MARIGOLD

I know what you’re thinking, ketchup and mustard … and you’re not wrong but like what’s wrong with dressing as one of the most iconic combos ever? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! here’s why red & yellow work, because they are both primary color & sit across on the color wheel. I went with more of a cherry red instead of a deeper ketchup one so it’s a little less obvious and more interesting! OH and did you notice my dress has become a top? I just tucked it into a red midi skirt.

ONE: Belt (wearing small)  ||TWO: Skirt (wearing 6)  ||  THREE: pumps – I half size up bc my foot is wide
FOUR: Skirt (I own in size M)  ||  FIVE: Sun mini mini bag ||  SIX: Look for less Handbag
SEVEN: Look for less bag  ||  EIGHT: for less belt  ||NINE:  Velvet Headband

LOOK 5: ORANGE X MARIGOLD

Mustard and orange? heck yes! these sit next to each other on the color wheel so they’re a perfect pair. A good color test is to ask “could I have make orange with yellow”  if the answer is yes the colors usually work well together! Mustard works wight both bright & burnt orange, for this look I went with bright!

ONE: Oxford Flat ||  TWO: Headband ||  THREE: Wide Belt
FOUR: Round Bag ||  FIVE Tights  ||  SIX: Round Crossbody

LOOK 6: GREEN X MARIGOLD

This combo works for the same reason orange does, because you can’t make green without yellow! I choose to play with shades here, so we have mustard with both emerald and kelly green which makes for a more interesting color combo. I also layered a turtleneck under the dress for a fun mod feel when paired with mid calf booties! cute right?

ONE: check coat (wearing size 6)  ||TWO: turtleneck (wearing M)  ||  THREE: Yellow boot (I own these too)
FOUR: Green Coat (I own this in M)  ||  FIVE: Crossbody Bag  ||  SIX: green Belt  ||  SEVEN:beret in green
EIGHT: heeled ankle boots  ||NINE: Check Belt    ||  TEN: Plus Plaid Coat ||   ELEVEN: coat in green

LOOK 7: TEAL X MARIGOLD

Teal and mustard is another great color combo, since yellow looks great with blue and with green it’s only natural that it would also look great with teal or turquoise. Like we did with orange, I’m offsetting dusty marigold with a bright turquoise for a fun pop! Here I decided to extend the length of the dress by layering it over a tulle skirt and turning it into a midi

LOOK 8: COBALT X MAIRGOLD
Royal blue and yellow is probably the most over used color combo and for good reason. It can look luxe, chic and even spirited (it was my high schools colors) all at the same time. Here I turned the dress into the top again with a quick tuck! if you’re doing this I highly recommend adding a belt to pull everything together and keep it in place. I used white as a bold accent with my accessories to switch it up. I’m following the three two one rule which is something I totally made up: 1 piece of marigold (my dress/top), 2 blues (dirt & headband) and 3 whites (boots, belt & bag). This look would also work with navy instead of royal/cobalt blue but navy is a little too close to black for me, so I avoid it

ONE: White Bootie  ||  TWO: Skirt  ||  THREE: Skirt (xxs-4x)
FOUR:  Similar circle bag  ||  FIVE: Pleated Skirt  ||SIX: Belt
SEVEN: Headband pack  ||  EIGHT: headband

LOOK 9: PINK X MARIGOLD

so I could have done marigold and purple, but I kind of overdosed on it last month as our color of the month so I skipped straight to hot pink! this is such a fun an unexpected color combo, there is no scientific reason why it works, BUT IT DOES. Marigold also looks great with blush pink too. I added a whole bunch of hot pink pops to give this marigold look a whole new life

ONE: Biker Jacket  ||  TWO: Headbands  ||  THREE: Plus Jacket  ||  FOUR:shoulder bag
FIVE: belt in pink  ||  SIX: drawstring boots (mine are from Zara, but i love these)  ||  SEVEN: Belt

LOOK 10: BURGUNDY X MARIGOLD

The perfect fall color combo! These colors work together for the same reasons we love red with mustard, but now we’re matching tones. a dusty yellow and a deeper red together give us a really compelling fall color story that we love!!!! Here I went a little preppy with a layered stripe sweater and chunky oxfords for a fun twist on fall classics.

ONE:  Dress  ||  TWO:  Leather Belt  ||    THREE:  Faux-Fur Coat
FOUR:Platform Oxford (size up .5)    ||  FIVE: Glitter Plerine Socks  ||  SIX: Tunic Dress
SEVEN:  Sock  ||  EIGHT: faux fur coat    ||  NINE: Pullover Sweater    ||  TEN: Faux Fur Jacket
ELEVEN: Superstar Sweater  ||  TWELVE:  Hat
