OMG I love animal crossing!  I am very late to this party and only started about a month ago but it has been so fun to join, and it’s never too late! From what I know, Animal Crossing is a game series I’m playing the current version “Animal Crossing New Horizons” on my switch. Paris and I actually had to buy a second Nintendo switch because he has his own soccer game that he plays and we haven’t been able to share. We bought our family switch to play just dance but it quickly became his game…. cool. So I bought my own switch light for Animal Crossing! If you’re only planning on playing animal crossing or a hand held solo player game I would recommend the switch light, I like it better for playing than his bigger switch + it comes in cute colors. It is slightly thinner & smaller! But if you hope to play a team game like Just Dance or Mario Party with 2-4 people, the normal Switch is the best option!

In New Horizons you get to build your own island, invite villagers to live on it and decorate it to your liking. You learn DIYs, swim in the ocean, die for pearls, learn reactions, celebrate moments (my villagers just threw me a birthday party), travel to other islands, shop, sell and enjoy island life. After a series of start up tasks, you’ll be able to customize your island: changing the layout, creating designated spaces and getting really creative with it! When there is a world that is so wild and out of our control, it is really comforting to have an island YOU OWN. You get to turn it into anything you want making it the perfect mini-escape.

I haven’t had a hobby in forever. As a kid, I was in all the clubs: soccer, competitive dance 30 hours a week, cheer, student council, a charity organization, a mentoring program, Salsa club …. LITERALLY ALL THE THINGS. But in college I quit everything to focus on getting 3 degrees in four years and then relocated to New York. Quickly, my blog became my hobby, and then it became my job …. and I had this weird thing where I got to do the thing I did “for fun” full time. It was what I wanted, but I did miss my “Hannah Montana” double life. It became this point where I worked all the time, and even though I enjoyed it I didn’t have anything that was “just for me”. I’ve been trying for the past 2 years to find some hobbies that are just mine, but I always end up sharing them with my community and then they become part of my job too. Although, I am now sharing my new found hobby in animal crossing, having it in the game has really given me the unique opportunity to have a hobby that is mine … but still shared! SO for that and so many other reasons, I’ve really enjoyed animal crossing! If you’re playing, I hope you enjoy too!
