Day to Night

Hey Cuties!

This post will be short and sweet because I wanted to get this look up for you to shop ASAP & share my first reactions to the show we saw last night.

Yesterday (July 3rd) was a fun day! Paris was off work because of the fourth holiday so we wandered around the financial district and then up to midtown for a musical. We live on the boarder of west village & meatpacking which is basically the most uptown part of downtown  (if that makes any sense)  but we have  been spending more and more time wayyyy downtown (south street seaport, FiDi & around ground zero). After spending the day down there we popped back to our apartment to change and check on Waffles (our French bulldog) before heading to Times Square for broadway! I didn’t change my outfit all day, but I did take it from day to night with accessories and styling, so today I’ll unpack both looks & share my reaction to the show…  lets go!

Day Dots:  I’m all about polka dots this summer, but so many people tend to dress them up instead of dressing them down. I gave my dots a day twist by stying them with sneakers and a sun hat.  This top is also a bit on the dressy side so wearing it with a cotton wrap skirt brought the drama in the volume department without taking it too over the top dressy.

Dots dolled up:  For night, I wore the same look but spiced it up a bit. Instead of wearing the top off the shoulder, I made it one shoulder by simply only wearing one sleeve, I let the other hang under my arm and it doesn’t look any different. This is a hack is something you can use with almost any off the shoulder top, even the ones with biggest most obnoxious shoulder sleeve. To off set the drama, I put my hair up and added low block heels for a little bit of spice. I planned on doing a dramatic cat eye too but ran out of time.

Broadway Date Night:    So we saw Spongebob the musical on broadway, something I never thought I would say … and it was amazing, again something I never thought I would say. I honestly thought it would be hot garbage. I mean I watched sponge bob when I was in high school, and I liked it fine but I’m not a fan. I also thought the idea of turning it into a musical was just another in a long list of bad broadway ideas (cough cough Spiderman) BUT IT WASN’T. GUYS it was so good, I want to give you a full review once its sunken in a little more on either here or youtube (which one?) but until then here are my initial reactions while I’m still riding the high.

First Reactions:  So again, I was blown away by this musical. I walked in with the lowest of expectations but it really blew me away. It’s tied with mean girls (at the moment) for the best show I’ve seen this season, and the shows I’ve seen include: Donna Summer the Musical, Frozen, Waitress and more. THE MUSIC was phenomenal, done by favorites like David Bowie, Panic! at the disco, T.I, Plain white t’s, Cyndi Lauper, Sara Barellies to name a few. The show also had a lot of political nods to it, touching upon race, immigration and pollution. It reminded me of a really good Disney movie, one of those where you’re watching it as an adult and you look over and the kid next to you is having the time of their life but you know that every other joke is meant for you. I was a combo of a shocked emoji and a giant happy smile emoji face the whole time I was watching. Okay, okay, the last thing I will say is that it is not what you expect it to be and it’s not literal! From the costumes to the casting its not a literal interpretation of what you’ve seen on TV and I think thats one of the reasons its so unique and special!

IF YOU HAVE A CHANCE GO SEE IT!!!!!!! It’s phenomenal.
