Make Up,

Kissing Booth

Hey Cuties! I love lipstick!! I’ve become known for my signature red lip and to never really leave the house without a pop of color on my pout. Lipstick is a FUN way to incorporate color and vibrancy into your makeup, and I don’t really wear much makeup so lipstick is my way of checking that box while experimenting with different shades. Today I’m answering some of your lip related questions and sharing my personal lip kit for all you lipstick lovers.

Make It Last Most people ask how do you make your lipstick last, and for me the key is liquid matte lipstick. This paint on formula will usually stay all day with a minimal need for reapplication. I’ll put mine on before I leave the house (or usually enroute to my destination via Uber) and maybe touch it up once after eating if need be. A liquid matte lipstick is a girls best friend, but this formula can be extremely drying on your lips, leaving your lips feeling parched and looking flaky after continual use (guilty). So how do you keep your kisser painted to perfection without those dry consequences? Don’t worry I gotchu girl

Crystalize It! So the key to keeping your lips kissable comes in a cute little egg shaped container: EOS Crystal Weightless Hydration Lip Balm. This balm is my current fav for lipstick prep because it delivers the perfect amount of weightless hydration while being 100% wax-free, hypoallergenic and free of petrolatum and parabons. It’s formula combines shea coconut with avocado and other natural oils to gently smooth and moisturize your lips while delivering the desired amount of hydration.

Pout Prep Just like you would wash and prime your face with moisturizing product or serum before applying makeup, I treat my lips before any lipstick goes on my face. After I wash & moisturize my face, I’ll brush my teeth before applying EOS Crystal Weightless Hydration Lip Balm to my lips. I’ll usually then do my hair or get dressed to let the hydration do it’s thing on my face and lips before applying makeup. Most summer days (like the day these photos were taken) I’ve been skipping foundation and just wearing a bit of blush & highlighter on my face to keep my skin feeling fresh, so I need my lips to look equally hydrated!

Skip the Line This might come as a shock, but I don’t really believe in lining my lips. They can give added dimension and definition to your look that I don’t really need. I have pretty big and full lips naturally, something I used to hide and hate by not wearing lipstick but have now come to celebrate. They just don’t really need that extra oomph a liner can add, and I find when I do line them I just make more of mess of my lipstick during the day do I don’t!

Shape it Till You Make It if you have a smaller lip and you’re trying to create the illusion of fuller, more defined lips then yes girl LINE IT UP! You can also over draw your lips a bit or create a signature shape. I love how Kieko Lynn lines her lips and has create a signature shape for herself that really helps define her look!

Take It Off Another really important part of lip care is what you do after the make up comes off and how you take it off in general. Liquid lipstick is s beast to get off, but applying EOS Crystal Weightless Hydration Lip Balm under your lipstick will help you feel hydrated all day and help for an easier removal process. Either way, you’ll need a few things to get your lipstick off your face! I usually start with a makeup wipe but I add a bit of coconut oil to help things move smoother. I’ll wipe off the bulk of it before using a make up melt face wash to get the rest of it away. I take off my lipstick first before moving to the rest of my face to avoid break outs around my mouth from wandering lipstick. If my lipstick is being particularly stubborn, I’ll use a lip scrub; but scrub or no scrub way I’ll finish by reapplying a moisturizing lip product like EOS Crystal Weightless Hydration Lip Balm. I usually like to wash my face right when I get home opposed to right before I go to bed so I don’t forget or hang out with make up on my face, so then when I actually do go to bed (probably 5 or so hours later) I’ll put on a lip sleeping mask or more EOS Crystal Weightless Hydration Lip Balm so my lips get hydration all night long.
